  • Sportsbooks are reporting that the most sharp money in Week 9 of the NFL season has been bet on the Baltimore Ravens (16.3 percent) against the 8-0 New England Patriots
  • The New York Jets (12.2 percent) are also drawing sharp action against the winless Miami Dolphins
  • Sharps also like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11 percent) facing the Seattle Seahawks

Are the New England Patriots a team about to face a sharp incision during Week 9 of the NFL season?

The smart money being wagered is leaning that way.

The highest percentage of sharp money wagering this week on NFL games is being bet on the AFC North Division-leading Ravens (5-2) at home against the unbeaten 8-0 AFC East-leading Patriots.

The New York Jets (12.2 percent) are also drawing sharp action against the winless Miami Dolphins. As well, the sharps also like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11 percent)  in the NFL odds facing the Seattle Seahawks.

The Tennessee Titans (9 percent) and Los Angeles Chargers (7.4 percent) are also seeing their fair share of sharp action this week.

Ravens Are Sharp Objects Of Affection

It’s easy to see why the Ravens are getting so much love from the sharps. Through eight games, the Patriots haven’t seen anything even close to the offense that Baltimore will throw at New England’s NFL-leading defense.

You can’t help but be impressed by the defensive numbers of the Patriots. They’ve held opponents to league-lows in yardage (234 per game) and points (7.6 per games). But it’s also important to look at the teams that they’ve been asked to harness.

It’s not exactly a murderer’s row.

The Patriots have faced one top-20 offense. That was the #19 Buffalo Bills. The New York Giants (24th) are the only other top-25 offense New England has dealt with through eight games.

On the other hand, they’ve shut down the #28 (Pittsburgh Steelers), #30 (Washington Redskins), #31 (Miami Dolphins) once each and the NFL’s worst offense, the #32 New York Jets, twice.

The Ravens are the NFL’s second-ranked offense. They rack up 434.9 yards per game. Baltimore is the NFL’s #2 scoring offense at 30.6 points per game. New England (31.2) is the leader.

New England hasn’t dealt with an elusive dual threat at QB like Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson. He’s thrown for 11 touchdowns this season and ran for three more.

This is the week where everyone finds out whether New England has a very good defense, or an all-time defense.

Pick: Baltimore Ravens (+3).

Are The Jets The Team To Back?

At the other end of the football spectrum, this is the week where the gridiron community gets to discover exactly how terrible the Miami Dolphins truly are.

Can Miami really lose at home to the green-and-white dumpster fire that disguises itself as a football team? It’s the NFL’s worst team (Miami) against the NFL’s most dysfunctional team (the Jets).

Unbelievably, the Dolphins actually go into this game with the best offense on the field, as #31 meets #32. Defensively, though, the Jets are #19 overall, compared to #30 for Miami.

Miami has scored the fewest touchdowns this season (nine). The Jets have passed for the fewest touchdowns (five).

There’s the added drama of Jets coach Adam Gase coming back to face the team that dismissed him at the end of last season.

Miami has won three straight over the Jets.

Pick: Miami Dolphins (+3).

Can Seahawks Buck Trend?

Surprisingly, the Buccaneers have Seattle’s number. They’ve beaten the Seahawks straight up in three of their last four meetings. The Bucs are also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games facing Seattle. But they’re just 2-4 SU at Seattle and haven’t won there since 2009. On the other hand, Tampa Bay has covered four of its last five in Seattle.

Seattle, though, is 5-0 SU this season when facing teams with losing records like the 2-5 Buccaneers. But the Seahawks are 2-4 ATS in their last six games and 0-5 ATS in their last five home games.

The spread opened with Seattle as a seven-point favorite and has been bet down to Seahawks -5.

Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+5).
