The Norris Trophy is awarded to the best all-around defender at his position. This NHL award was won by Adam Fox last year of the New York Rangers. There has been some movement from the summer to now as far as odds. Here are some of the top candidates and their odds listed below.

Norris Trophy NHL Odds Movement
No one should be surprised that the reigning Norris Trophy winner is not the favorite to repeat his triumph. That is correct. Adam Fox is tied for second in the NHL betting lines to win the Norris along with Victor Hedman at +700. Both started at +600 over the summer. There was one player who benefitted when it came to the NHL lines. That defender was none other than Cale Makar.

Makar has seen his odds shorten from +500 to +350. There was some uncertainty when Philipp Grubauer was allowed to walk away in free agency. However, when Darcy Kuemper was acquired, that seemed to buoy Makar’s chances. Some argue that injury was the only thing that prevented the Colorado Avalanche defender from winning the Norris Trophy last year. There is little doubt that Makar is one of the better bets out there.
However, is he the best bet?

This will come across as a considerable risk. However, Victor Hedman may be one to look at with the current NHL odds here. At +700, that may be the best value one sees with the now healthy Tampa Bay blueliner. Hedman has battled a series of injuries the past two to three seasons while playing through them.

One last parting shot is this. Victor Hedman has finished third or better in Norris Trophy voting in five straight seasons. That includes winning the award in 2018. The NHL lines may only become kinder to Hedman throughout an 82-game season. Others will contend but Hedman is our best bet.

Again, note the consistency of the goaltender. There is this as well. Andrei Vasilevskiy has finished in the top three in Vezina Trophy voting for four straight seasons (won it in 2019). His advanced numbers and overall numbers should have him topping every NHL public betting list out there.
