Avs Road Favorites in Friday NHL Odds

The Avalanche are listed as road favorites in the Friday NHL odds versus Winnipeg. The Avs own the best record in the NHL and have already clinched a spot in the NHL Playoffs. It’s no surprise the Avs are the clear favorites in the 2022 Stanley Cup odds at +350.

Colorado is returning to action Friday following a two-day layoff. The Avalanche have won four straight games, including consecutive victories over the Penguins. Over the past month, Jared Bednar’s team is 9-1-1, outscoring opponents by a 38-23 margin.

Colorado owns a solid 22-10-3 road record, but they are dealing with key injuries. Captain Gabriel Landeskog is out with a knee injury, while Nazem Kadri is also sidelined by a lower-body issue. Defenseman Samuel Girard (lower body) is questionable for Friday.

Colorado’s injuries are evidently priced into this betting line, as a healthier Avs team was listed closer to -300 in a February matchup with the Jets. The Avalanche’s projected starting goalie for Friday is Darcy Kuemper, who is 33-9-3 with a .925 save percentage and 2.40 GAA.

Jets Betting Analysis

Winnipeg is listed as +155 home underdogs versus Colorado in the Friday NHL odds. This gives the Jets 39.2% implied probability to win the game. Dave Lowry’s team sits seven points out of a playoff spot with 11 games remaining in the regular season.

Winnipeg brings a three-game losing streak into Friday’s NHL matchup with Colorado. The Jets lost 3-1 to Detroit on Wednesday in what was a crushing blow to their playoff hopes. Winnipeg’s odds to make the playoffs are now listed at a mere 0.3%.

The Jets have been a solid home team this season, posting a 19-15-2 record at Bell MTS Place. Many of those victories have been due to goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who owns a .912 save percentage and 2.90 GAA. Hellebuyck is Friday’s projected starting NHL goalie.

While the Avs are very banged up, the Jets have a healthy lineup entering Friday. Kyle Connor paces the team in goals with 41 on the year, while first-line centre Mark Scheifele has been on a tear lately. Over the past five games, Scheifele has three goals and three assists.

Avalanche vs Jets Picks & Prediction

Winnipeg would be an intriguing home underdog versus Colorado if they still had a realistic shot at making the playoffs. It’s hard to see the Jets being very motivated following the crushing loss to Detroit. The Avs at least are playing for playoff position.

Avalanche vs Jets Recent Results

Date Home-Away Moneyline Puck Line Total

01/06/2022 COL 7 – WPG 1 COL COL Over

11/12/2019 WPG 0 – COL 4 COL COL Under
04/04/2019 COL 3 – WPG 2 OT COL WPG Under

The recent results for Colorado vs Winnipeg show that the last two meetings were quite lopsided. Furthermore to the scores, the Avs have outshot the Jets 127-90 in the past three meetings. Colorado registered 40-plus shots in each game.

Here are some betting trends to keep in mind for Avalanche vs Jets:

  • Avalanche are 9-0 in their last 9 games playing on 2 days rest
  • Avalanche are 53-12 in their last 65 vs. a team with a losing record
  • Jets are 10-21 in their last 31 games as an underdog

The Jets have been one of the NHL’s worst possession teams over the past month, relying heavily on Hellebuyck to win games. In Hellebuyck’s two appearances versus Colorado, however, he’s given up 13 goals. The Avs have a formula for getting pucks past the Winnipeg netminder.

Look for the Avs to rely heavily on the Nathan MacKinnon line and secure another road win versus Winnipeg. Take Colorado to win in regulation at -115 in the Friday NHL odds.

Pick: Avalanche Three-Way Line (-115)
