The Montreal Canadiens make their return to the ice on Wednesday, January 12th, and they’ll be in tough against their rivals, the Boston Bruins. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST at TD Garden in Boston. With Montreal not having played in almost two weeks and going through a terrible season, the Bruins are overwhelming -345 favorites in the Wednesday NHL odds.

Let’s take a look at all the possible bets available in the Canadiens vs Bruins odds and lines while also taking a glance into SBD’s NHL best pick for this game.

Bruins Huge Favorites in Wednesday NHL Odds

The Bruins are massive favorites against the Habs in the NHL odds, and there are a number of reasons why, but let’s begin with the Bruins terrific play of late.

They have won five of six since returning from their Covid-19/Christmas layoff, and they defeated two of the top teams in the league, Tampa Bay and Washington, in a rather dominant fashion in their last two victories. Needless to say, they’re having a lot of fun.

It still hasn’t earned them much respect when looking at the Stanley Cup odds though, as they just crack the top 10 contenders with odds of +2000 right now.

Canadiens One of Best Teams to Bet Against

As the Canadiens get ready to resume their disappointing season, they do so once again with what looks to be a makeshift lineup. They do have some bodies back, but they are still nowhere near full health.

When looking at NHL teams to bet against on both the moneyline and versus the spread, the Canadiens rank 2nd in both on return on investment. Only betting against the expansion Seattle Kraken returns more percentage of your money in both categories this year.

These teams have met only once so far this season, a 5-2 Bruins victory at home.

Marchand Leading Bruins Resurgence

Front and center for the Bruins lately has been super pest, Brad Marchand who has goals in three straight games and has crept into the NHL top 20 in scoring although he’s missed a few games.

If you’re looking at league leaders in points per game, the Bruins winger currently is tied for 8th in the league in that category.

He had a classic Marchand performance in his last game against the Capitals, coming back to tie the game for the Bruins after Nic Dowd almost took his nose off with a high stick.

Canadiens vs Bruins Pick & Prediction

Any team can beat another in the NHL on any given night, but this may be one of the most uneven matchups of the season in my opinion as I strongly believe the Bruins will destroy the Canadiens on Wednesday night.

To recap some reasons why:

  • The Canadiens have a lineup that is ravaged by Covid-19 and injuries
  • The Bruins are playing arguably their best hockey of the season
  • The Canadiens are expected to be rusty having not played in almost two weeks

To top it off, the Habs are 4-18 in their last 22 games as a road underdog. Look for the Bruins to win this contest easily and take them on the puck line at -125 in the Wednesday NHL odds at Barstool Sportsbook.

Pick: Boston Bruins -1.5 (-125)
