Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Analysis

With five games left in the regular season, Tampa Bay has an outside shot of overtaking the Maple Leafs for second in the Atlantic. Should they erase the four-point deficit (with one less game on their schedule), they’ll wrestle home-ice advantage away from Toronto in the first round matchup.

Behind Vezina Trophy winning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay has won three straight, outscoring opponents 14-1. Preceding those three victories was a dreadful four-game skid.

For the campaign, the Bolts are sixth in scoring, and slightly above average in goals against (13th). Their special teams are along the same path, as they’re fifth on the PP and 15th on the PK. The Lightning have taken six of their last seven meetings against the Metro Division. The under goal total has hit in their last four contests.

New York Rangers Betting Analysis

In the early part of the season, the New York Rangers were in a bit of a funk, skating to a pedestrian 11-10-5 record through the first 26 games. Since then, however, they’ve been dynamite, going 34-11-6, tied for the second most points in the NHL during that span (74). They’ve gone 10-2-2 in their last 14, and are likely to finish third in the Metro, unless they’re able to overtake a Devils team that entered Tuesday three points ahead of them.

New York hasn’t allowed more than three goals the last 14 times hitting the ice. They’re fourth best in goals against on the campaign. Surprisingly Tampa Bay is 18-19-1 on the road, and the Rangers have won their last four at home against teams with losing records away from home. However, they’ve dropped four of five against squads that scored at least five goals in their previous outing (The Bolts have done it in two straight).

Lightning vs Rangers Pick & Prediction

This game has all the makings of a close, tight checking affair. In six of their last seven encounters, no team has won by more than two goals. Our model has this Lightning vs Rangers game going the home team’s way by a slight 3.45-3.33 margin.

Lightning vs Rangers Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
New York Rangers Moneyline -115
Under 6 Goals -110
PARLAY ODDS  +150

This is a very close match to call, but in this case, Tampa’s poor road record stands out like a sore thumb this season (they’ve also lost three of four away from home).

In nine of the last ten matchups between these two (including postseason), under six goals has been the play to earn money. The under is also 6-1-1 in the Rangers last eight against teams with winning records.

Pick: New York Rangers Moneyline (-115), Under Six Goals (-110)
