A betting prop has been released that allows you to wager on which NHL player from the All-Canadian North Division will have the most fights this season. Ottawa Senators’ teammates Brady Tkachuk and Austin Watson are listed as co-favorites.
Temporary divisional realignment for the 2021 season means that teams in the North Division will be playing each other nine or ten times. A compressed 56-game schedule means rivalries such as the Battle of Alberta and Tkachuk vs Tkachuk could reach a boiling point.

Brady or Matthew?Â
Brady and Matthew Tkachuk are both among the favorites to finish with the most fights in the North Division this year. Brady is listed at +150 after dropping the gloves four times in his sophomore season, while Matthew is sitting at +600 despite fighting the same amount as his brother last year.

The Tkachuk brothers are intriguing names to bet on in this prop, but you have to remember their primary focus is on helping their respective teams win. Matthew is a staple in the Flames’ top-six and coming off a third consecutive 20-plus goal season, while Brady has registered over 20 goals and 40-plus points in each of his first two seasons.
Brady is the centerpiece of a young and upcoming Sens squad that should take a step forward in 2021. The arrival of agitator Austin Watson to Ottawa makes Matthew the better value out of the Tkachuk bros. Watson ranked second among all NHL players with seven fighting majors last season and won’t hesitate to stick up for his new teammates.
Battle of Alberta Will Be LivelyÂ
The Battle of Alberta didn’t disappoint in 2020, with the rivalry escalating to the point of a goalie fight between Oilers’ netminder Mike Smith and Flames’ goaltender Cam Talbot. There’s also a great feud developing between Matthew Tkachuk and Zack Kassian, who dropped the gloves in one of the heated matchups last season.

Considering there will be 10 Battle of Alberta’s played in 2021, you can’t go wrong betting a player from one of these teams in this prop. The game with the goalie fight featured over 100 penalty minutes alone. Kassian is the smart bet as he’s never shied away from dropping the mitts. The ex-Canuck has racked up seven fighting majors over the last two years.
Who’s The Best Bet? Â
Considering the compressed schedule and each game just being that much more important, I don’t expect many players to go out of their way to drop the gloves this season. That’s why you need to target someone in this prop whose primary role is playing a physical game and dropping the mitts no matter the situation.
Austin Watson says he’ll wear 16 with the Sens in honour of Brian McGrattan for everything he did for him on and off the ice. #Sens

Austin Watson has fought a whopping 20 times over the last three years and is primarily used in a bottom-six role. This is going to be a young Ottawa team that could get pushed around at times, so Watson is going to want to limit that as much as possible. The 28-year-old is also honoring Brian McGrattan, who fought 37 times over his career with Ottawa.
The Battle of Alberta could certainly get heated, but these teams are going to have their focus on making the playoffs. The Sens have ranked top-three in team fighting majors in two straight years and have the worst odds out of any team to win the North Division. If another season gets away from them, expect plenty of fisticuffs along the way.
Pick: Austin Watson (+140)
