Panthers vs Bruins Recent History

With Monday’s victory, the Bruins have now earned the win in three of five overall meetings this season, and seven of 10 overall since November 2019. That run features a perfect 5-0-0 head-to-head record on home ice. However, with the UNDER prevailing in Monday’s low-scoring affair, a 4-0 run for the OVER came to a halt.

Despite their surging position at the sportsbooks, the Bruins now face a challenge to snap a run of futility when playing in Game 2 situations after posting just one win in their past six. The Panthers enter Wednesday’s contest winless in three straight road playoff games and have now fallen to defeat in five straight in postseason action.

Florida Panthers Betting Outlook

The Panthers stormed out of the gate in Game 1, setting the tone in the early going as predicted and outshooting the Bruins by a wide 15-8 margin in the first period. However, Florida shooters were unable to solve Bruins netminder Linus Ullmark and found themselves facing an early 1-0 deficit from which they would not recover.

After seeing the Bruins extend their lead to 2-0 on a shot that Panthers goaltender Alex Lyon should have stopped, Matthew Tkachuk gave the Panthers faithful reason to hope with a pretty unassisted goal just three minutes later. However, it proved to be far too little, and too late. Aleksander Barkov failed to record a shot on goal and has produced just one point in three games. And while rearguard Aaron Ekblad led the squad with four shots, he was held off the scoresheet for a third straight outing.

Boston Bruins Betting Outlook

The rope-a-dope paid off for the Bruins, who have goaltender Linus Ullmark to thank for another sparkling performance between the pipes. Boston managed to seize an early lead despite being outplayed for long stretches. However, the B’s made Florida pay for their mistakes and consistently caused havoc in front of the Panthers’ goal, generating a pair of goals and a third marker that was called back on goaltender interference.

David Pastrnak gave the Bruins the early lead with his fifth goal in four games. Tyler Bertuzzi handled duties as super pest while also contributing a pair of assists, and has now picked up nine points during a five-game point streak. Patrice Bergeron was unavailable due to an illness that is making its way around the Bruins dressing round, and his status for Wednesday is uncertain.

Panthers vs Bruins Prediction

Suddenly faced with a must-win situation, the Panthers must find a way to solve a Bruins defense that proved effective at keeping Florida on the periphery and snuffing out second chances in front of the net.

Essentially that means little change to the gameplan for Game 2, with the Panthers likely to once again attempt to establish the pace, while praying for the virus currently plaguing the Bruins to level the playing field.

The Pick: Bruins -1.5 (+110): UNDER 6.5 (+100)
