New York travels down to the land of pickles and ketchup to face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday afternoon.

Can the New York Rangers defeat a division rival and rack up two more points?

Let’s look at the Rangers vs Penguins odds and offer you our top NHL pick for Sunday’s contest on national TV.

Rangers vs Penguins Odds

Team Puck Line Total Moneyline
New York Rangers -1.5 (+200) O 6.5 (-110) -115
Pittsburgh Penguins +1.5 (-250) U 6.5 (+110) -105

New York rolls in at -115 on the moneyline while Pittsburgh lays at -105 . Game totals remain at 6.5.

Stanley Cup odds are interesting, as New York now lengthened a bit to +1200 depending on the site. Now, the reason for that involves some minor market correction. No, that is not a misprint. Pittsburgh is down at +3500 because of their bubble playoff status.

Two unrested teams square off on Sunday from Pittsburgh.

Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00pm ET at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The game is broadcasted on TNT.

New York’s Top Six A Work In Progress

New York is in its second stretch where they play three games in four nights. After playing in Buffalo on Saturday and pulling off a stirring overtime win, they come right back and play the rival Penguins on national television.

With the win, the Rangers were able to win a game where again their top-six was not at its best. Thankfully, their power play was able to come up clutch in overtime. After all, it is easier for a team to score 4-on-3 compared to 5-on-4.

Will the Rangers be able to muster more than two goals on Sunday afternoon? It is strange but Pittsburgh played an equally defensive game on Saturday afternoon against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Igor Shesterkin stopped all but one shot in the win versus Buffalo. The 2022 Vezina winner continues to see his odds lengthen this season. However, it is projected that Jaroslav Halak will start on Sunday. Halak lost his last three starts giving up 11 goals.

Penguins Are Still On The Bubble

The Pittsburgh Penguins are still on the bubble even after defeating the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.  Even with Casey DeSmith in goal, the Penguins ended up four goals to the good for win number 33 on the season. Pittsburgh has games in hand on the Islanders and will use one of those up Sunday afternoon.

The Penguins carry little margin for error but did achieve a milestone of sorts on Saturday. Well, Mike Sullivan did anyway as he notched win number 400 of his coaching career.

The Penguins carry Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin as one of the best 1-2 center combinations in the league. Even though Pittsburgh is an older team, there are times when the Penguins look to be the most optimal version of themselves.

What is crazy is that a team loaded with an offense like Pittsburgh has a mere +6 goal differential (214-208). That ranks the Penguins in the middle of the pack. Again, there are times when this is a top-ten contending team, and times they are not.

Rangers vs Penguins Prediction

The Penguins are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games, and looked like their old selves at home against the arch-rival Flyers. This game again receives TNT exposure and helps with star power, and yet could there be some fatigue here?

Rangers vs Penguins Same-Game Parlay Picks

Pick Odds
Pittsburgh Moneyline -105
Under 6.5 Goals -110
PARLAY ODDS  +250

The game might be a little sloppy, but the Penguins need to keep winning with teams behind them a bit too close for comfort.

New York’s power play remains dangerous and Pittsburgh will need to stay out of the penalty box. More home cooking for the Penguins could be the recipe they need to perhaps gain on the Rangers for that third spot in the Metropolitan Division.

Pick: Pittsburgh Moneyline (-105)
