Dallas Stars Betting Analysis

The Dallas Stars are led by their top line of Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson, and Joe Pavelski. Robertson found the back of the net in Game 1 along with Hintz, but it was not quite enough to defeat Vegas. Normally, three goals would be enough, but the Golden Knights did something that other teams have against Dallas early in series. They got their defensemen moving, particularly their bottom pairs. It put Jake Oettinger in some tough situations.

Jake Oettinger is an excellent goaltender for the Stars, though he only had a .892 save percentage in Game 1. Arguably, Adin Hill outplayed Oettinger, especially in high-danger situations. That has been the looming concern all playoffs. Yes, Oettinger responds extremely well after losses with 24 wins this season in that scenario.

Dallas has now seen the “over” connect in six of their previous seven games and allowed 3+ goals in five of their past eight contests. The Stars have lost every Game 1 this postseason and all in overtime.

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Analysis

Vegas features a “Sin City” type of offense, with 42 goals in their nine victories (4.67), and just one goal in each of their three losses. They’re paced by Jack Eichel, who leads the team with 14 points, ahead of Mark Stone’s thirteen. This remarkably is Vegas’ fourth Conference Finals appearance in six seasons. Not surprisingly in Game 1, William Karlsson, an original Misfit, scored the first two goals for the Golden Knights.

Vegas has been led admirably in net by Adin Hill. He stopped 33 of 36 shots in the opening game. Some believe he may regress to the mean but what if he does not? Vegas the last two conference final appearances ran into the hot goaltender. What if it’s the other way around this time?

The Golden Knights were stronger on special teams in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final. Vegas held Dallas to no power-play goals and the Golden Knights generated some nice chances on their man advantage. Even though it did not lead to goals, they stayed even and that matters.

Vegas knows that Dallas will bounce back and their depth and special teams will be especially tested on Sunday afternoon.
