  • What will be the hot topic during the second round of Democratic Presidential debates?
  • How often will Senator Kirsten Gillibrand blink during the debate?
  • These and other prop wagers are being offered

Round two of the Democratic Presidential debates is slated for July 30-31 in Detroit, and perhaps the home of the Big Three automakers can help whittle down this field of 20-plus candidates to a more workable number.

There isn’t a prop wager on whether that will happen, but that might be the only prop not available today. There are a litany of propositions built around the debate to be considered. Let’s take a look at some of the wagers on offer.

Democratic Debates: Which Topic Will Receive The Most Time

Topic Odds
Foreign Policy +150
Immigration +200
Health Care +300
Economy +400
Climate Change +600
Gun Control +800
Civil Rights +1000

*Odds taken on 07/29/19.

Detroit is directly across the border from Canada. The Ambassador Bridge from Windsor to Detroit is the busiest border crossing between the two countries. A new international bridge is currently in the early stages of construction.

Combine that with the controversy over President Donald Trump’s border wall between the USA and Mexico. The Supreme Court recently ruled in favor of Trump, enabling him to siphon money out of the Pentagon to fund his wall.

Then you factor in the internment camps where asylum seekers are being held near the southern border, and the fact that children are being separated from their parents.

Immigration is a hot-button issue and it’s certainly to be a topic of conversation in a border town, even a northern-border town.

Pick: Immigration (+200)

Democratic Debates: Which Candidate Will Receive The Most Speaking Time

Tuesday Candidates Odds
Pete Buttigieg +200
Elizabeth Warren +250
Bernie Sanders +300
Beto O’Rourke +400
Amy Klobuchar +750
Field (any other candidate) +350
Wednesday Candidates Odds
Kamala Harris +150
Joe Biden +200
Cory Booker +250
Julian Castro +500
Kirsten Gillibrand +750
Field (any other candidate) +600

Buttigieg displays a knack for making his point and taking control of the conversation. He gets people to listen to him.

Sanders figures to get off on a few of his grumpy old man rants. Warren tends to play by the rules, so she’s unlikely to exceed her allotted time.

O’Rourke desperately needs to pump life into his sagging campaign, so he should be talking up a storm. But if you’ve figured out Beto’s gameplan, would you let us in on his secret?

Tuesday pick: Bernie Sanders (+300)

Harris was the clear winner during the first round of debates. She aggressively dominated the floor and won the day. The other candidates can’t allow her to do so again but who’s going to stop her?

Biden looked lost during the first debate. Booker and Castro both made some decent points but were overshadowed by others.

Harris holds the momentum and she’s savvy enough not to offer anyone the chance to knock her off that mantle.

Wednesday Pick: Kamala Harris (+150)

How Often Will Kirsten Gillibrand Blink?

Total Kirsten Gillibrand Blinks Odds
Over 76.5 -120
Under 76.5 -120

The Senator from New York blinked an awful lot during the first round of debates and people did not miss it. After the Harris-Biden busing showdown and the impromptu Spanish lessons from Beto, Booker and Castro, it was one of the most talked about issues on social media.

It wasn’t just Democrats who noticed. Gillibrand’s blinking became a bipartisan issue.

Some debate watchers even went as far as to suggest it could be interpreted as an example of lack of trustworthiness.

If it’s as simple as a nervous habit that Gillibrand isn’t even aware of, there’s not much she can do to make it stop.

Pick: Over 76.5 (-120)

Will The Price Of Insulin Be Mentioned?

Outcome Odds
Yes +120
No -160

Sanders made a special trip into Canada on Sunday, with what he called a caravan of American diabetics, to purchase insulin at a Windsor, Ontario, pharmacy.

The point of the grandstanding was to show how much cheaper it is for diabetics in Canada to acquire their life-saving medicine than it is for Americans.

Sanders is vehemently anti-Big Pharma. Do you actually think he went to all that trouble to then not mention insulin during the debate?

Pick: Yes (+120)
