  • The ban on e-cigarettes could take hold in America before the end of the year
  • Will the rising numbers of youths vaping cause a widespread ban?
  • Will some nuanced regulations be established to allow responsible users to keep using e-cigarettes?

The idea of the e-cigarette ban has seemingly been picking up steam lately. Amidst health concerns and some vape related illnesses, some government figures are getting worried. With rising numbers of youths using e-cigarettes, this is causing some pearl-clutchers to get a bit nervous.

The “think of the children” rhetoric is piling up and could result in laws being instantiated that get in the way of vaping for all. Will e-cigarettes continue to be used or will you soon become a fool if you use a Juul? Check out the odds and my vape analysis below.

There are reports of a handful of people dying from these e-cigarettes as well as hundreds of pulmonary illnesses. The thing is though, there’s little to no specificity on what ingredients or components within these e-cigarettes are causing these issues. It seems quite reactionary to something that most don’t seem to have a comprehensive understanding of. Although this is quite a reactionary regime that’s looking to regain some favor in the face of perpetually waning public support. I think this will inspire an e-cigarette ban before the end of the year.

Ban Will Happen Before 2020

This change could cause millions of adults to go back to conventional tobacco smoking but it could also create a black market that never existed before. The main issue seems to be children who are partaking. To curb this, there should be extra scrutiny on advertisers and store owners that carry products to indicate that this is not a youth product and carries inherent health risks.

Multiple politicians have articulated wanting to do this on a state level and recently Trump indicated the desire to propose a federal ban on e-cigarettes.

A complete ban for all could also be predatory to small businesses. Tens of thousands of small businesses with e-cigarettes as part of their inventory would be out of sorts in a significant way. The growth of e-cigarette sales continue to surge and are expected to rise pretty significantly by 2025 if things continue, However, the political minds of today could very likely get in the way of all of that.

A thoughtful and measured effort is essential for this e-cigarette ban. To curb the rates of youth vaping, there needs to be a focus on removing the slick advertising from these companies. One of the numerous tendrils attached to this complex issue.

Nuance is not something that this current regime seems to have with many things if anything at all. Some politicians nowadays seem to thrive with reactionary behavior so based on that I could see his regime trying to rush this out.
