Stenhouse Jr. Thrives At Talladega

Not many of the usual customers do well at Talladega, so the odds are going to look a bit weird. One of the drivers that does thrive at this Alabama track is Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

He finished second on this track in June and has now finished in the Top 10 in six of his last eight outings, including a victory in 2017.

There’s no sugar-coating the fact that he’s been way off the mark of late. Since finishing sixth at the All-Star Open, he’s been 14th or worse in 12 of his last 13 starts with the best finish being a 10th-place result. However, he had gon 34th, 13th, 21st, and 20th in his four starts before Talladega in June and he still finished second.

Almirola Loves The Superspeedway

Aric Almirola has yet to pick up a win in 2020 but there’s no doubt that he’s having one of his best seasons to date. His career-high watermark for most Top 10’s in a season is 17 and he’s already tied that through 30 races. Moreover, his six Top 5’s are also the most he’s ever had.

Almirola does really well at Talladega Superspeedway as he has now finished in the top nine spots in each of his last eight outings. That includes a win in October of 2018. If you’re feeling that an outright win is a little bit risky with him, a Top 10 prop bet looks like a solid choice as he’s consistently finished in that range at this track.

Kurt Busch’s Recent Solid Form

Kurt Busch has never won this race but he’s been very competitive over the years. He had a pole in 2018 and has finished in the Top 10 in six of his last nine outings. He’s also led at least one lap in four of his last six showings here, so he clearly knows what needs to be done to get the job done.

Busch had been shaky for a good couple of months, going 17th, 10th, 10th, 14th, 40th, 13th, 34th, eighth, 13th, and 15th before surprising some people with his win in Las Vegas last week. We’ll see if he can keep that up and carry the momentum over to this week and produce a Top 10 result for us.
