Arsenal FC will have a lot to prove when the UEFA Europa League group stage action kicks off next week. The Gunners fell short of a Europa League title last season, falling 4-1 to rival Chelsea FC in the tournament final. However, the club returns to action perched as a heavy -300 favorites to finish atop the Group F table on the Europa league futures.
Here’s a look at Arsenal’s chances for the upcoming campaign, as well as the competition they will face during the Europa League group stage.

Arsenal FC
Arsenal FC will be looking to overcome a sluggish start to their season next week, when they kick off their UEFA Europa League campaign with an all-important group stage matchup against Eintracht Frankfurt. The Gunners have struggled against top-flight competition in the early stages of their Premier League schedule, but will visit Frankfurt sporting solid +117 odds of taking home a win on the Europa League game line odds.

After opening their EPL campaign with narrow one-goal victories over Newcastle United and Burnley, Arsenal fell flat in their past two outings, suffering a lopsided 3-1 loss to Liverpool before struggling to claim a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur this past weekend. The club could now have their hands full against Frankfurt, which enjoyed a summer of success, and who rides a three-match win streak.
The continued strong play of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will likely be key to Arsenal’s bid for top spot in the group stage.
The continued strong play of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will likely be key to Arsenal’s bid for top spot in the group stage. The veteran attacker powered the Gunners to last season’s final with a four-goal performance in the squad’s 7-3 aggregate win over Valencia in semifinal action. He has also accounted for three of the club’s six goals in league play this season including game-winners against Burnley and Newcastle.
Eintracht Frankfurt
The Eagles enter the Europa League group stage on a high after posting wins in three straight outings across all competitions. The club have also been steady in Europa League action, compiling a 5-0-1 win-draw-loss record during the current campaign after reaching the semifinal last season in just their second all-time tournament appearance.
Frankfurt have filled the net early on in this season’s Europa League, outgunning opponents by a wide 13-2 margin. The club has carried their steady play over into Bundesliga action, posting wins in two of three outings, and has emerged as an intriguing +300 bet to finish first place on the Group F. Those odds will undoubtedly shorten should the Eagles come away with a win over Arsenal as +189 home underdogs in next Thursday’s group stage opener.
Royal Standard de Liège
Standard Liège return to Europa League action for a second straight season after recording a third-place finish on last season’s Belgian First Division A table. Les Rouges turned in a respectable showing in last season’s Europa League, advancing to the group stage, where they fell just short of advancing with a 3-1-2 record.
While the club endured a difficult finish in league play last season, going 2-1-5 in their final five matches, they are off to a strong start to the current campaign, rocketing to the top of the Belgian First Division A table with four wins in six outings.

Les Rouges enter the group stage sporting lengthy +1000 odds of finishing first on the Group F table. The club is winless in two previous matchups with Arsenal, during the 2009 UEFA Champions League, and has never faced Standard Belgian First Division A table. And while they finish a huge task to win their group, their continued strong defensive play could position them to pull off the upset over one of the two favorites, and payout on attractive +250 odds of advancing out of Group F.
Vitória de Guimarães
Vitória de Guimarães return to Europa League group stage action or the third time in six years lagging as +1200 longshots to win Group F on the Europa League futures. The club has never advanced past the group stage in five all-time appearances in the Europe league, with their third-place finish in 2013/2014 marking their best-ever performance at this tournament.

And while the Portuguese side has handled themselves well through the early rounds of this year’s tournament, outscoring opponents by a 15-0 margin during a 5-1-0 run, they have struggled badly in the early going of Portuguese Primeira League action, surrendering six total goals during a 0-3-1 run to start.
Pick: Eintracht Frankfurt to win Group F (+300); Standard Liège to qualify (+250)
