Dutch giants Ajax and Spanish side Valencia will clash next Tuesday in Amsterdam on December 10, at 3:00 pm EST with an opportunity for a round of 16 berth on the line for both teams. Ajax has ten points, while the Spaniards have eight in Group H, tied with Chelsea, who take on Lille on the last matchday.

Last time these two sides met on October 2nd, Ajax dominated Valencia 3-0, with Hakim Ziyech, Quincy Promes, and Donny Van de Beek all bagging a goal apiece. That match was on the road to boot, so with the atmosphere of playing at home next Tuesday, Ajax enters this fixture as clear favorites with a moneyline of -159.

Ajax Looking to Win Group H

With a victory on Tuesday, Ajax can win Group H while booking their ticket to the round of 16 for the second year in a row after their historic run to the semifinals last year. Erik ten Hag’s side has gone 3-1-1 in this year’s UCL campaign, losing to Chelsea at home on Matchday 3 then drawing with the blues on Matchday 4 in an exhilarating 4-4 match at Stamford Bridge.

Hakim Ziyech and co. shouldn’t have any issue beating Valencia once again next week. They have been in great form across the board this term and frankly, Valencia hasn’t, even though they could possibly advance to the elimination rounds if they could somehow manage a win in this decisive fixture. But with the likes of Quincy Promes up top, who’s scored four times already in this year’s competition, the Dutch powerhouses should be able to secure a crucial win on home turf.

Valencia Looking to Advance in UCL

Albert Celade’s side has struggled this year in La Liga, sitting in eighth spot through 15 matches. But in Champions League competition, they have managed to hold their own, going 2-2-1, including a win over Chelsea on Matchday 1 and a tie with Frank Lampard’s side on November 27th at Mestalla Stadium.

Valencia is currently tied for the second spot in Group H heading into the last matchday before elimination rounds, but Chelsea takes on Lille, who they should definitely beat convincingly. That means the Spanish side must either win or tie depending on Chelsea’s result, but a victory for them would secure a spot in the next round. It’s definitely not going to be easy to come by though given Ajax’s brilliance this season, especially with Valencia playing on the road in Amsterdam.

Ajax is Best Bet

Although it’s not European competition, Ajax hasn’t lost once all year in the Eredivisie. Their only defeat across all competitions came by the hands of Chelsea in October. Their electric attack with the likes of David Neres, Quincy Promes, and Hakim Ziyech, among others, will prove to be too much for Valencia, as they’ll win convincingly and advance to the round of 16.

Pick: Ajax 3-1
