We’re now into Matchday 4 of the Champions League group stage campaign, with Wednesday, October 12th bringing fans a tantalizing fixture between Barcelona and Inter Milan at Camp Nou. The kick-off is scheduled for 3 PM ET. Read on for the Barcelona vs Inter prediction.

The La Liga giants are in desperate need of a victory here, currently sitting in third place in Group C with just three points. Another defeat would almost certainly put them out of contention to advance to the knockout stages. Inter meanwhile, sits on six points after beating Barca 1-0 on Matchday 3 at the San Siro. The Spaniards still have the better Champions League odds at +1400, though.

The over 2.5 goals boast -170 odds here and have been hit in two of the last three meetings. The under sits at +140.

Barcelona vs Inter Preview

Xavi’s men are looking great in La Liga, sitting at the top of the table with 22 points through eight games. In fact, they’ve yet to taste defeat in league play, bagging 20 goals and conceding just once. Sunday was another 1-0 win for the Catalans over Celta Vigo, with Pedri bagging a first-half winner.

However, the Champions League is currently Barca’s kryptonite. Their only two losses this term have come in the competition, falling 2-0 to Bayern on Matchday 1 and then of course losing to Inter a week ago. No matter the club’s success in Spain, they ultimately want to compete at the highest level in Europe and if Wednesday ends up with another negative result, it could mean a demotion to Europa for the second season in a row.

Domestically, it’s been a brutal start for Inter. The 2021-22 runners-up are currently sitting in seventh place with a 5-0-4 record, already matching their loss total from last season. On a more positive note, Simone Inzaghi’s side has notched two straight victories heading into Wednesday, most recently running out as 2-1 winners at Sassuolo on Saturday.

Edin Dzeko was the star of the show for the Nerazzurri, netting a brace to lead the way. Goals aren’t coming at a premium in the Champions League though, scoring only three times as a team. Nevertheless, another win here puts Inter in a favorable position with just two matchdays left.

Barcelona vs Inter Team Lineups and Injuries

Barcelona Projected Lineup: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Pique, E Garcia, Alonso; Gavi, Busquets, Pedri; Dembele, Lewandowski, Fati

Injuries & Absences: Kessie, Christensen, Memphis, Kounde, Bellerin, Araujo

Inter Projected Lineup: Onana; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; L Martinez, Dzeko

Injuries & Absences: Dalbert, Brozovic, Correa, Cordaz, Brazao

There’s a host of injury concerns for both sides, but the starting XIs will look relatively similar to their selections over the weekend, with the exception of some additions for Barca.

Barcelona vs Inter Prediction

You have to look at history here. Inter is yet to win on the road against Barcelona, losing all five visits to Camp Nou. Considering Barcelona’s form, I like them to secure a victory here. However, the moneyline holds little value. Instead, believe in Barca’s rock-solid backline that has only conceded once in La Liga and Marc Ter-Stegen to keep a clean sheet as well.

Pick: Barcelona to win nil (+140)
