It’s a mouth watering clash of the Bundesliga’s top two clubs with Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich travel to Signal Iduna Park to take on Borussia Dortmund Saturday afternoon at 12:30 pm EST.

Bayern currently sit top of the table, one point ahead of The Black and Yellows. While both teams have many world class players, all eyes will be on the top two strikers playing in Germany and two of the best in the world, Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland.

Let’s look at the odds, preview the match, and offer our best picks below for this Bundesliga Round 14 contest.

Dortmund Becomes Tough Betting Pick With Lack of Fans

A fourth wave of COVID-19 has been sweeping through Germany and that means we are likely to see only 15,000 fans, if that, allowed in attendance at one of Europe’s best stadiums when it comes to atmosphere.

There will be no roaring Yellow Wall of support to push Borussia Dortmund forward as they look to topple the titans of German football in the latest edition of Der Klassiker.

The home side are perfect on their own field in the Bundesliga this season with seven wins from seven matches heading into their toughest test of the year against Bayern.

Bayern Best Bet in Recent Contests vs Dortmund

The visiting Bavarians have really owned the rivalry against Dortmund recently. It almost always feels like a big brother versus little brother matchup when these two get together. The last match they played against each other was also on Dortmund’s home pitch and Bayern defeated them 3-1 in the German Super Cup.

When it comes to meetings in the Bundesliga, Bayern has won all five of their last five matches against the Black and Yellows, and Dortmund is not in their best form heading into this one as they lost three of their five matches last month.

Battle of Goal Scoring Superstars

One major talking point heading into this one is the competition between the Bundesliga’s top two strikers. Lewandowski leads the Bundesliga in goals once again this year, something he has done for the last three seasons.

However, Haaland has emerged as a major threat to the Polish international’s goal scoring supremacy and if it wasn’t for a hip flexor injury, he’d likely have just as many, if not more goals than Lewandowski at this point.

Bundesliga Top Scorers This Season

Player Goals Goals Per 90 Minutes Per Goal
Robert Lewandowski 14 (1st) 1.15 78
Erling Haaland 10 (2nd) 1.62 56
Patrik Schick 8 (T-3rd) 0.93 97

Haaland announced his return to competition quite prominently last week scoring just seven minutes after coming off the bench in a 3-1 win over Wolfsburg.

One thing, you can be certain of, both players will want to score goals in this massive matchup and traditionally, these teams have scored a lot of goals against each other.

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich Prediction

Bayern should have the advantage in this one, although they do have a couple of key players who will likely miss this match. Joshua Kimmich is out after testing positive for COVID-19 last week and Leon Goretzka is struggling with hip problems.

While picking the Bavarians on the moneyline has returned great rewards in Der Klassiker matchups recently, there is another bet I like even more in this game.

Dating back to the 2017-18 season, games between Bayern and Dortmund have gone over 3.5 goals in eight of their last ten battles in all competitions including the last four straight. They’ve averaged 4.3 goals per game in that stretch.

I like the odds and the likelihood of over 3.5 goals in this match, especially with Haaland back and Lewandowski motivated after losing out on the Ballon d’Or to Lionel Messi.

Pick: Over 3.5 (-130)
