Arsenal has been the class of the UEFA Champions League field so far, and they’ll look to remain the only club with a perfect record as they face Club Brugge Wednesday.

The Gunners have won all five of their matches, and their 15 points has them tied with Bayern at the top of the table, with one less game played, and a head-to-head win against them in their back pocket. The books have them as hefty road favorites in this one.

The action is set to get underway at 3pm ET at Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges, Belgium, with Paramount+ providing the broadcast coverage.

Since trouncing AS Monaco 4-1 to kick off Champions League play, Club Brugge has totalled just four goals in the subsequent four games, losing three with an exciting 3-3 draw with Barcelona on Nov 5.

The Blue-Blacks were blanked 3-0 last time out against Sporting CP, and across all fixtures, they’ve actually dropped three straight.

Back-to-back losses in the Jupiler Pro League to Royal Antwerp and Sint-Truidense on last time out cost manager Nicky Hayen his job, replaced by Ivan Leko, whose first match will be against Arsenal.

The Champions League appears to be Arsenal’s safe space as they own the top Champions League title odds. It’s a place where they might be able to regroup, after losing 2-1 to Aston Villa in Premier League play — ending the Gunners’ 18-match unbeaten streak across all competitions.

They’ve allowed one goal against in five games, and that was against mighty Bayern. They have scored at least two goals in every match, and shouldn’t have a problem punching in a couple of goals here.

Other than getting back on the winning side of things, there’s not a lot of stress here for Arsenal, other than locking up a guaranteed Top-8 finish. Look for them to do it without breaking a major sweat.

Gabriel Martinelli is currently tied for fifth in goal scoring in Champions League, in a logjam of other notables with four goals, including PSG’s Vitinha, Marcus Rashford of Barcelona and Harvey Barnes of Newcastle.

He’s scored in each of the last four Champions League games for the Gunners, and has generous +200 odds to break through on Wednesday.

As if he wasn’t already a threat, the Blue-Blacks’ top goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is out with an adductor injury, so Dani van den Heuvel will get the tall task of slowing down the Arsenal striker.

This is a combination of the Belgian team struggling to score goals, and the consistently clean sheets the Gunners have been laying out in this competition.

The Blue-Blacks certainly rose to the occasion in that wild 3-3 draw with Barcelona, but that happens to be the outlier: they have a total of one other goal over this four-game Champions League stretch, finding the back of the net in a 2-1 loss to Atalanta.

If that’s not enough, striker Romeo Vermant won’t be available for this one, still recovering from suffering a concussion in a Belgian Pro League match against Oud-Heverlee Leuven in October.
