EPL Picks for Matchday 5

Nottingham Forest are back in the top flight after 23 years. But they are given little hope in the EPL odds in their early visit to the champions, Manchester City – who are whopping -1430 favorites for a home win on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, there is a good prospect for a draw between Crystal Palace and Brentford at +220.

And, after their 9-0 weekend thrashing of Bournemouth, the oddsmakers believe the real Liverpool side has now turned up. So they are wide -315 favorites to defeat big-spending Newcastle.

Fulham vs Brighton Picks

Both these teams are among the smaller outfits in the EPL but have each made impressive starts.

Brighton is unbeaten in four games – with three wins and a draw handing it fourth place in the early season standings.

Meanwhile, Fulham has lost just once after returning to the EPL as the winner of the EFL Championship last season.

It is in 11th place after one win, two draws, and a first defeat – a close one – away at leader Arsenal last weekend.

That represents a satisfactory beginning for a team that has been a yo-yo club in recent years.

So at +230, Barstool Sportsbook’s offer for a draw on Tuesday looks a promising one. Kick-off is at 2:30 pm ET.

Two of Brighton’s wins have been on the road at Manchester United and West Ham United.

This will raise hopes it can claim all three points in London this time around. But Fulham held Liverpool 2-2 at Craven Cottage on the opening day.

And, following that, they overcame Brentford 3-2 at home. So they are a tough nut to crack on their patch.

It will look for goals from its Serbian striker Aleksandr Mitrovic who has scored four times already this season.

Brighton’s German midfielder Pascal Gross has three goals to his credit – including the winner against Leeds last weekend.

Pick: Draw +230

Arsenal vs Aston Villa Picks

EPL leader Arsenal is the only team in the competition with a 100 percent record after four opening wins.

Furthermore, it has been prolific with 11 goals scored.

It comes up on Wednesday against an Aston Villa side that has lost three of its first four games.

It is in 15th place with coach Steven Gerrard beginning to come under pressure in the EPL relegation odds.

So the idea that the Gunners may get among the goals again is a compelling one. Kick-off is at 2:30 pm ET.

Among the prop offers for your EPL picks, the price for Arsenal to score four goals or more at +500 looks worthy of interest (Arsenal team total Over 3.5).

On the road, Villa has lost 2-0 at Bournemouth and 3-1 at Crystal Palace.

So it looks there for the taking by an Arsenal side brimming with confidence – and massively buoyed by the £45 million summer signing of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

Jesus has scored two EPL goals this season and his presence has hugely lifted the team.

So much so that Norwegian attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard has chipped in with three goals.

Although the team has only kept one clean sheet, defender William Saliba has been getting rave notices early in the campaign.

Meanwhile, Villa is reeling after a 1-0 home defeat by West Ham last Sunday.

It has won only once – in a 2-1 home victory against Everton.

The only forward to show any kind of form is Danny Ings, who has two EPL goals.

But the team has conceded seven times – and could struggle at the Emirates if Arsenal’s rampant form continues.

Pick: Arsenal Over 3.5 goals (+500)

West Ham vs Tottenham Picks

West Ham got its first win of the campaign at Aston Villa on Sunday after three straight defeats.

It meets a Spurs team which understandably is made a favorite for a victory on Wednesday after three wins and a draw handed it third place.

However, now it is in 16th place. West Ham will be keen to properly kick start a season in which it has carried out a massive recruitment campaign.

A London derby at home offers a great opportunity for more morale-boosting. Therefore, the price of +270 for a West Ham win looks worth a chance. Kick-off is at 2:45 pm ET.

The form book says otherwise. But that is reflected in the wide odds for the Hammers.

New £30 million Italian striker Gianluca Scammacca will be looking for his first EPL goal.

Tottenham have been impressive with striker Harry Kane scoring both goals in a 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest last weekend – taking his EPL tally this season to four already.

But West Ham will be keen to get a statement win here and could pull it off against the odds. A Hammers’ win will go down for our EPL picks today here.

Pick: West Ham +270
