Middlesbrough vs Chelsea Prediction

After beating Tottenham at home in the last round, Middlesbrough and their fans come into this game full of confidence, knowing that Chelsea, due to the sanctions applied against their current owner Roman Abramovich, will have no fans inside the Riverside Stadium. Manager Chris Wilder has put together a team that has taken a liking to the FA Cup and they will be looking to squeeze every last drop out of their home advantage.

While this is an uncertain time for Chelsea, they still have an expensively assembled squad that is full of top-level internationals. Player for player they are miles ahead of Boro, but the question is will they be able to put all of their off-field travails behind them. A full Riverside will make this tricky for Chelsea and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the home side could take Chelsea to extra-time.

Picks: Middlesbrough and Chelsea to Draw (+310)

Crystal Palace vs Everton Prediction

Patrick Vierra’s Palace has made their Selhurst Park home a fortress and managed an outstanding goalless draw at home to Man City on Monday night. A similar performance against Everton may well be enough but league form often goes out of the window in the FA Cup.

Everton, who has been relegation-threatened for most of the season, pulled off an outstanding home win against Newcastle on Thursday, winning 1-0 with only ten men thanks to a dramatic 99th-minute winner from Alex Iwobi. This will give the Toffees a huge confidence boost and in a one-off cup tie, they could benefit from having no league worries for one weekend. The +310 on offer for the away win looks generous.

Pick: Everton to win (+310)

Southampton vs Manchester City Prediction

The Saints were 3-1 victors over a very good West Ham side in the last round and are up to 10th in the EPL and so free of any relegation concerns. Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl will set his team up to deny City time and space, and will try and replicate the setup they used in January when they held Pep Guardiola’s men to a 1-1 draw.

City, like Chelsea, has a squad full of top-level international quality that can beat most teams on any given day, and will be doubly aware of the Saints’ quality after the draw earlier in the year. For that reason, I can see Guardiola springing a tactical surprise or two and it being enough to earn City the win.

Pick: Man City to win (-286)

Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool Prediction

This is turning into a really good season for second-tier Nottingham Forest, who are in the promotion mix in the Championship and have already beaten Arsenal and Leicester City at home in the FA Cup. The question is, whether Steve Cooper’s men have yet another massive performance to prolong their FA Cup journey.

Liverpool will provide Forest with a huge challenge, far greater than anything they have faced this season, and with Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp having one eye on an amazing quadruple, they will not want this to be a banana skin. Klopp will pick a strong side that I expect to be just too strong for Forest.

Pick: Liverpool to win (-335)
