Juventus and Roma matchup at Allianz Stadium on Saturday in the pick of this weekend’s Serie A fixtures. The Old Lady has won the last three meetings between the two sides, and won this fixture 1-0 last October. Roma have enjoyed a stronger start to the campaign, however, with back-to-back 1-0 victories, while Juventus were held to a goalless draw by Sampdoria last weekend.

The history books point towards a Juve win, with the hosts defeating Roma in 12 of their last 13 trips to Turin. Roma finished last season well under Jose Mourinho, though, and have lost just twice in their last 19 Serie A matches.

Over/Under and Spread

The latest Serie A odds place Roma as a narrow underdog here, with the visitors priced at -160 on the +0.5 handicap. The line for the total is set at 2.5 but it’s generally expected to be a low-scoring game with a short price of -125 on the under.

Juventus vs Roma Prediction for Serie A Round 3

There isn’t much to choose between these two sides. Both were active in the offseason. Juventus are hoping to compete for the title once again, and Roma could match those ambitions after adding a raft of proven talent this summer. One of those names was Paulo Dybala, who returns to the club where he plied his trade for over half a decade.

Juventus’ big moves were to acquire Angel di Maria and Paul Pogba, but both are sidelined through injury for this one. Roma’s marquee midfield signing Georginio Wijnaldum is also out for a prolonged period with a broken leg. The battle in the middle third will go a long way to deciding this clash — Max Allegri and Jose Mourinho are instinctively cautious managers, and will focus on congesting the midfield.

Tammy Abraham to Score Odds

Tammy Abraham is priced at +160 to score anytime, which is great value. The former Chelsea striker has amassed 1.9 expected goals through the first two matches, a tally which is only bettered by Victor Osimhen of Napoli.

It didn’t take long for Abraham to prove himself in Italy, scoring 17 goals last season. He frequently delivered on the biggest stage, too, finding the net against Juventus, Atalanta and Milan. This is a matchup he can be effective in, with the mobility to trouble Leonardo Bonucci, and facing a Juventus defense which is still something of a work in progress.

Juventus vs Roma Pick

These are the matches Mourinho lives for. While obviously past his peak as a manager, the self-proclaimed Special One still has a knack for getting results in the biggest games. He took Roma to their first European trophy last season, and the squad has been reinforced with more experience and top-end talent. The Abraham and Dybala pairing in attack is going to cause Juventus plenty of problems.

At the other end of the pitch, Roma have been rock-solid in their first two matches. It continues a strong defensive run from the end of last season — the Giallorossi kept four clean sheets in their final six matches in all competitions.

Recent history might point towards a Juventus win, but the past can only tell us so much here. Juventus are not the force they once were. Roma are much-improved under Mourinho and will, at the very least, be hard to beat.

Pick: Roma or Draw (-170)
