Angels vs Yankees Expert Picks and Prediction

  • Pick: Yankees Moneyline (-238 at BetMGM)

The Yankees possess a distinct advantage on the mound with Fried, who boasts a stellar 1.93 ERA and a microscopic 0.75 WHIP.

Across 84.0 innings of work, the southpaw has compiled a sparkling 1.93 ERA. Rather than overwhelming hitters with swing-and-miss stuff, Fried masterfully pitches to contact, inducing weak grounders and wipes out any hits or walks with the occasional double play.

He’s pitched well in each of his last two starts, getting into the seventh inning in both while allowing just 11 hits and six earned runs, but coming away with no results and New York losing each of those games.

Fried has only faced four batters on this Angels roster, and none of them happen to be Mike Trout. Hopefully he’s been studying tape and watching the games up close over the last three, as Trout has torn up Yankees’ pitching.

He’s homered in all three games in this series, with four overall, while driving in eight runs. Trout has also crossed home plate five times.

The Angels have yet to name a starter, but it might not matter if New York forces them to get into the bullpen. The Angels relievers are sporting an inflated 4.74 team ERA. No matter who’s on the mound, though, they results have not been good.

LA is just 3-5 over their last eight games, and four of the five losses they’ve allowed at least seven runs. Conversely, all three of their wins during this stretch have come by outscoring their problems, tallying at least seven runs in each of those victories.

And the Yankees also boast one of the best players in baseball in Aaron Judge, and he’s gone toe-to-toe with Trout in this series. He homered on Wednesday night in New York’s 5-4 win, giving him three home runs in three games, with four runs batted in and three runs scored.

Judge is hitting .271 with 46 hits, 15 homers, 33 RBIs and 32 runs scored in 47 games against the Angels in his career.
