  • Premier League leaders Liverpool take on a struggling Tottenham side this Sunday at Anfield
  • The Reds dropped their first points of the season last week, tying Manchester United at Old Trafford
  • Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won just three of their nine PL fixtures this season

It will be a rematch of last year’s all-England Champions League final as Liverpool welcome Spurs to Anfield. This will be the first time this season that these two sides meet since the Reds sunk Harry Kane and Tottenham to lift Europe’s most prized trophy last June.

The Spurs will look to build off their mid-week 5-0 thrashing of Red Star Belgrade in Champions League group stage play, but despite that result, they have been immensely struggling. Just last month, they suffered a 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in North London and haven’t fared much better in league competition, with just 12 points through nine matches.

Liverpool, on the other hand, has looked immaculate all year. Jurgen Klopp’s side has suffered just one defeat and that was to Napoli in Champions League group stage play. Their performance last week against the Red Devils was slightly dismal, but Adam Lallana’s late equalizer gave them a point after trailing for most of the match.

By no surprise, the Reds are big favorites to come out on top this weekend against Tottenham.

Reds in Fine Form This Year

Liverpool and Manchester City once again look like the class of the Premier League this season, but Pep Guardiola’s side has lost twice which could hurt them in the title race with a high-flying Liverpool squad. In nine Premier League matches, the Reds have bagged 21 goals, with Sadio Mane leading the club with five of his own. Their attacking trio of Mane-Salah-Firmino is one of the finest in Europe and should be able to expose a Tottenham back-line that is struggling to keep oppositions out of their own net.

Liverpool’s defense is one of the best in Europe as well, led by Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. They have conceded just seven goals in nine Premier League matches but will need to be sharp this weekend with attackers like Harry Kane and Heung-min Son posing a threat for the Spurs.

In the last three matches between these clubs, Liverpool has won twice and tied once. In their previous two fixtures, the Reds came away with 2-1 victories.

Reds Are the Best Bet

Given Liverpool’s form this season and how poorly Tottenham have played, it would be safe to go with a victory for the Premier League leaders in this match.

Tottenham looked a whole lot better last season and put up three respectable performances against the Reds, but this campaign it’s been a whole different story for Mauricio Pochettino’s team. On the road at Anfield, they don’t stand much of a chance against a very good squad.

Pick: Liverpool win 3-1
