Chelsea in Impressive Form Under Lampard

The Blues have surprised everyone this term, losing just two fixtures through 12 matches so far. Their young talent has played their part immensely, with striker Tammy Abraham bagging ten goals, which is second in the Premier League behind Jamie Vardy who’s scored 11 times.

American phenom  Christian Pulisic has found his top form as of late, netting five goals and tallying two assists in nine appearances for Chelsea. The 21-year old is fighting a minor hip injury that he picked up in the Blues’ last victory against Crystal Palace, so it’s not yet determined if he will suit up against Man City on Saturday.

Chelsea has conceded 17 goals in 12 fixtures this year and will need to be sharp against an electric Man City attack. Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma must continue to be mainstays on Lampard’s backline if they want any chance of winning this important away match. Once they get Antonio Rudiger back in December, their defense should be a lot stronger as well.

Man City Seeking Third Straight PL Title

Man City has become a dynasty over the last few years, but they’ve definitely had their ups and downs this season so far. They played a decisive match on the road against Liverpool on November 10th and despite two controversial VAR calls, City was defeated 3-1. That loss created a nine-point difference between them and Jurgen Klopp’s first-place side.

Although it’s still early, it could be difficult for City to catch the Reds considering they have already lost three times this season and Liverpool has yet to lose in the Premier League.

Despite sitting in third spot currently, Pep Guardiola’s squad has netted a Premier League-best 35 goals this season, an average of 2.9 goals per match. Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling have been their most reliable goal-scorers this year, snagging nine and seven goals, respectively. Kyle Walker and co. have had their issues on the backline at times, but they have still conceded just 13 goals this year.

Could Be a High Scoring Fixture

Both of these sides have numerous attacking threats in the final third who have the ability to find the back of the net. Chelsea and City have dealt their issues defensively this term, so there is a possibility we could see each team score 2-3 goals apiece on Saturday.

Man City Should Win at Home

City will be at the Etihad and are fresh off a defeat by the hands of Liverpool, so they will be coming out firing on all cylinders. It should be a very entertaining match with numerous goals scored on both sides, but Guardiola’s squad will come out on top, ending Chelsea’s five-game winning streak.
