Road wins are always tough to come by in MLS, but this week we see a bevy of teams on the road who exceptionally struggle to take three points on their travels. NYCFC (0-4-5), Toronto (0-4-4), San Jose (1-3-5), Vancouver (0-3-4), SKC (1-4-5) and Chicago (1-2-5) all find themselves on the road with the odds against them of improving those records. In fact, the MLS odds in each of those matches above make nearly all of their opponents odds-on favorites to win on Wednesday. Odds at Bet365 June 20.

If you’re looking for some alternative markets to bet in your MLS Week 20 picks, there could be some good opporutnities to bet on cards this week. The Red Bulls host Charlotte at 7:30 pm EST and both teams (plus Chicago) are tied in first this season for the most yellow cards with 48. Additionally, New York’s opponents have received the most yellow cards this season at 47.

And speaking of Chicago, they travel to Providence Park to face the Timbers at 10:30 pm EST. The Timbers have also received plenty of yellow cards this season, the fifth-most with 44.

Austin FC vs FC Dallas Prediction

On May 13 these teams played in Austin and FC Dallas came away with a 1-0 road win. It was the first time in five games that both teams didn’t score between these sides. The previous five scorelines had been 2-1, 1-1, 2-2, 2-1 and 5-3.

That road win is one of just two for Dallas this season, as they’re 2-3-4 away from Toyota Park. They don’t often win many games away from home with just six wins in their past 33 road games. But their 5-2-2 home form this season has them fifth in the West.

Dallas was last in action against Portland on June 11 and lost 1-0.

Austin has fallen off this season and sit 12th in the West at 5-4-8. The Verde went through a stretch where they were winless in eight, before winning three of four. But they’ve now lost back-to-back games after a 4-1 road loss to SKC and a 2-1 home loss to RSL in the past two weeks.

Goals have been coming from both teams in recent Austin games. They’ve scored in six straight, but have also conceded in 9/10. A bet on both teams scoring is 7-2 in their past nine. That’s how we’ll look for our MLS picks here.

St. Louis City vs Real Salt Lake Prediction

Two playoff teams meet when 1st place St. Louis hosts 7th place RSL at 8:30 pm EST Wednesday. RSL got smacked by the first year team earlier this season, losing 4-0 at home in March. Despite going into the half tied 0-0, Nicholas Gioacchini, Joao Klauss with two and Rasmus Alm all scored second half goals in the win.

Klauss, as well as Eduard Lowen are injured and won’t be back until late July. But Gioacchini has stepped up to lead the team with seven goals.

Despite being tops in the conference and among the contenders in the MLS odds for MLS Cup, St. Louis is winless in three, their last result being a 3-1 road loss in Nashville on the weekend. The return home will be welcomed where they are 6-1-2 and have netted an impressive 23 goals compared to only seven conceded.

However, RSL will also enter this one with confidence. They won 2-1 in DC on the weekend and are undefeated in three games. On the road, RSL have collected 14 points on the season, the most road points tied alongside Orlando. After Saturday’s win, they’re now undefeated in five on the road and have scored eight goals in those five.

Saturday’s win did come with DC down a man after an early Steve Birnbaum red card. It also included a 68-yard strike from Pablo Ruiz, which may end up being the goal of the year in MLS.

MLS Over/Unders

Highest Over Teams Highest Under Teams
Atlanta 13-5 New York Red Bulls 14-3
Charlotte 13-5 Toronto FC 13-5
St. Louis 12-5 NYCFC 12-6
Real Salt Lake 12-6 Minnesota United 10-7
DC United 12-7 NAS, DAL, SEA, COL – all 10-8

Total goals per match between team and opponent

Both of theese teams have played to the Over in totals bets this season as you can see in the table above. They’re both top two in Over 2.5 totals and in total goals per match in the West. St. Louis is 12-5 (3.2 GPM) and RSL is 12-6 (2.7 GPM).

St. Louis home games have gone 7-2 to the Over and average 3.3 GPM, each the highest in the West. Meanwhile, RSL road games have gone 6-3 to the Over and average 2.8 GPM, the second and third-highest totals in the West.

We’ll back backs from both and at least three total in our St. Louis City vs Real Salt Lake picks.

  • MLS Picks: Both teams to score & over 2.5 (-120), risk 1 unit at Bet365

FC Cincinnati vs Toronto FC Prediction

Supporters’ Shield-leading FC Cincinnati will host Toronto FC at 7:30 pm EST in MLS Week 20.

Cincy still has just one loss on the season at 12-4-1, and no losses at home at 9-0-0 where they’ve scored 16 and only conceded five goals. When including the US Open Cup, they’ve won their first 12 home matches to start the season, which ties an MLS record.

In MLS play only, they’re one home win away from tying an MLS record for consecutive wins at home to start a season.

Not much has gone right for TFC so far this season at 3-10-5. They are though, just three points back of the final playoff spot. They are also just four points above the East basement. They’re three wins have all come at home, while away from home they’re still winless and have been outscored 12-6.

But the poor road stats extend long past this season. Toronto is winless in their past 11 road games and have only two road wins in their past 33. In 17 of those 33 they’ve also been shut out.

If you’re looking for goalscorer props, Federico Bernardeschi (+275) and Lorenzo Insigne (+240) each have three goals for Toronto. Luciano Acosta leads FCC with eight goals and has been on a tear of late. He’s scored in three straight games, in 6/7 and has seven of his eight goals during that stretch.

Toronto will be handing the first start to backup keeper Greg Ranjitsingh with both Sean Johnson (USA) and Tomas Romero (El Salvador) away on international duty.

In MLS any team can rise up and provide a shock result. But that’s what a TFC win would be here. Shocking. Ride the streaks and back a Cincy win for your soccer picks today.
