  • France are favored to win Euro 2020
  • Netherlands’s Euro 2020 odds are down from +1800 to +900
  • This is the last chance for Belgium’s “Golden Generation”

The Netherlands came up just short in the inaugural Nations League, when they lost to hosts Portugal in the final, but are among a group of teams who are within a shout of winning next summer’s Euro 2020.

Euro 2020 Odds

Team Odds
France +350
England +450
Belgium +700
Germany +700
Spain +700
Netherlands +1000
Italy +1400
Portugal +1600
Croatia +2500
Poland +6600
Russia) +6600
Switzerland +6600
Denmark +8000
Turkey +8000
Austria +10000

*Odds taken 06/18/19

Unsurprisingly, world champions France (+350) have been installed as favorites, with World Cup 2018 semifinalists England just behind them on +450 but Belgium, Germany and Spain are not far adrift on +700 in the latest Euro 2020 odds.

A Tournament Unlike Any Other

Euro 2020 will be like no other European championship in that, for the first time, it is scheduled to be held in 12 cities across the continent. The opening match will take place on June 12th, 2020 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, and the final will be held at Wembley Stadium, London on July 12th, 2020.

The other cities hosting games are Munich, Baku, Saint Petersberg, Bucharest, Amsterdam, Dublin, Bilbao, Budapest, Glasgow and Copenhagen.

Who Stops the French?

In terms of who can stop the French from winning it, it is worth remembering that Paris is not on the list of host cities, so Paul Pogba and co. will not at any stage benefit from home advantage. That may, in the final countdown, be significant, especially if the draw is kind to the English, Germans, Dutch, and the Spanish.

Portugal, the defending champions and also winners of the recent Nations League, look particularly well priced at +1600, although they too will be denied any home advantage as no games will be held in their country. But what their recent successes have shown is that while Cristiano Ronaldo will always be the main man while he is around, there is another exciting crop of Portuguese players coming through – among them Manchester City’s Bernado Silva.

So, even if Ronaldo decides against playing in Euro 2020, Portugal will still be competitive and at +1600 are certainly worth a bet.

Koeman’s Young Guns on the March

At +1000, Netherlands are also in that group of teams who could win the tournament and who will, if the draw works out for them, benefit from home advantage. Despite losing the Nations League final to Portugal, their average Euro 2020 odds are now +900, whereas they were +1200 in March and going back to last summer were +1800.

All of which adds up to a Dutch team that is in the ascendancy, with Ronald Koeman carefully molding this young group of talented players – based mainly on Ajax youngsters – into an effective and potent unit. All that’s missing right now, and is something Koeman will be looking to address over the course of next season, is a prolific goalscorer.

If they can tick that box, then they really do have a good chance.

An Eye on the Italians

Beyond the Portuguese in the listing above, it is difficult to see anyone else sneak into the reckoning, but at +1400 it is worth keeping an eye on the progress of the Italians. While it is a little early to be putting money on them to win it, let’s see how they develop over the coming season. Never discount them.

So, beyond the big five of France, England, Germany, Belgium, and Spain, there are bets worth considering but, equally, this may be the final hurrah for some of Belgium’s golden generation. They have gone close but have never won a trophy. This may just be their time.

Pick: Belgium (+700)
