Sampdoria vs Napoli Prediction
The league leaders travel to Sampdoria’s Stadio Luigi Ferraris hoping to make it five wins on the spin to open the 2021-22 campaign during Serie A Matchday 5. A 4-0 away win in Udinese on Monday night was the perfect preparation for this trip to Genoa, and so they head there on a massive high. Having conceded only twice in their four games so far, they currently have the joint-best defense in Serie A (with AC Milan) and so have proven themselves to be a very effective unit at both ends of the pitch.

Sampdoria too had a good win at the weekend, beating 16th-placed Empoli 3-0, but will face a very different opponent on Thursday. Veteran Fabio Quagliarella is still among the goals and could feature against Napoli, while fellow striker Francesco Caputo is a cert to led the line after scoring twice against Empoli. The Neapolitans are likely to be without Demme, Lobotka, and Meret through injury.

Napoli starts this as a favorite, unsurprisingly, but it is worth noting that 11th-placed Sampdoria has only conceded three times so far so will not be rolling over in this one. And given that Napoli’s 100-percent record has to end sometime, for me there is value here in the draw at +260, along with Caputo as anytime goalscorer.
Picks: Sampdoria and Napoli to draw (+260) / Francesco Caputo to score (+230)
Fiorentina vs Inter Milan Prediction
Fiorentina’s Stadio Artemio Franchi hosts today’s clash with second-placed Inter Milan during Serie A Matchday 5, with the visitors looking to pile the pressure on leaders Napoli and make the most of any slip-ups from them. The Viola too has had a great start to the season and are only a point behind Inter in fifth place. A win would take them above the Milanese.

A 2-1 win for Fiorentina at the weekend extended their winning run to four matches and, like Napoli, they are playing with style and confidence. Key for them will be their much sought-after Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has been leading the Fiorentina line brilliantly. The Nerazzurri also had a successful weekend, hammering Bologna 6-1 on Saturday; a win that took them above their city rivals, Milan.

Fiorentina will make this a tough evening for Inter and their fans will make it a hostile atmosphere, but with Inter keen to keep the pressure on leaders Napoli, I can see this being a game where the Milanese make a statement, flex their muscle and exploit Fiorentina’s attacking ethos. With Inter still in plus-money, that, for me, is where the value lies.
Pick: Inter Milan to win (+100)
Torino vs Lazio Prediction
It is Turin vs Rome as Torino entertains Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino in Serie A Matchday 5. Il Toro will be looking to make it three wins on the spin after recent successes over Salernitana (4-0) and Sassuolo (1-0), and are starting to get some real momentum into their season, after opening with two disappointing defeats.

Lazio’s problem has been the opposite. They started well with two wins – over Empoli and Spezia – but have been winless since and are in need of a boost. Goals have been relatively easy to come by for the Romans but a nasty habit of conceding sloppy goals has started to cost them and they have slipped to sixth after being the early pacesetters.

With Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio not seen as particularly happy travelers, there is a chance here for Torino, who would leapfrog Lazio in the table with a win. The momentum they have picked up with those two wins may be decisive and an early goal could well open up the way for a valuable home win. At +250, this looks like great value.
Pick: Torino to win (+250)
