Tottenham and Chelsea matchup at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday September 19th. The two rivals clash in the final fixture of matchday five with Chelsea knowing a win could put them top of the table. Spurs, meanwhile, are looking to bounce back after losing to Crystal Palace in embarrassing fashion last weekend.

The north London club also drew with Rennes in the Conference League in midweek, while Chelsea got the better of Zenit in the Champions League.

Tottenham haven’t beaten Chelsea since November 2018. This fixture finished in a 1-0 win for the west London club last season. The bookies are unsurprisingly favoring Thomas Tuchel’s side for Sunday’s duel.

Depleted Spurs

Nuno Espirito Santo doesn’t have many choices when it comes to team selection. Japhet Tanganga is suspended. Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Giovani Lo Celso are all doubts.

Santo handed Tanguy Ndombele his first minutes of the season in midweek, and the Frenchman could get another start on Sunday given Spurs’ availability issues.

Putting a defense together is a challenge for Santo with uncertainty over Dier, Sanchez and Romero. There’s potentially bad news for Spurs’ midfield too, with Thomas Tuchel confirming N’Golo Kante will be in the Chelsea squad.

The Blues welcome back Reece James from suspension as well. Christian Pulisic is the only injury absentee. Tuchel is spoilt for choice in attacking areas even without Pulisic, though he will likely opt for his favored front three of Mason Mount, Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz.

Chelsea To Dominate

They rode their luck in the draw with Liverpool, and they weren’t at their best against Aston Villa, but Chelsea have looked formidable so far this term. The defense has been rock solid since Tuchel took over, and that trend has continued into this season.

Mo Salah’s penalty at Anfield is the only goal the Blues have conceded this season. They are a much more fearsome attacking force with Lukaku leading the line, too. The Belgian has seamlessly adapted to his new team, developing chemistry with Mount and Havertz.

With Spurs suffering injury issues on defense and having conceded 6.3 expected goals in four league matches so far, Lukaku to score anytime represents great value at +100 with FanDuel. The former Inter man has scored six goals in his last four appearances for club and country.

Spurs’ Struggles

Tottenham were outclassed by Crystal Palace last weekend, registering only two shots on their way to a 3-0 defeat. The three wins to start the season flattered them. Only one team has made fewer key passes than Spurs in on the season, and they have the worst successful pressure percentage in the league.

This is a team which has been unable to create chances and their defense has been far more vulnerable than the three consecutive clean sheets suggested.

Home advantage and the motivation of a London derby are factors for bettors to consider, but it’s very difficult to envisage Spurs getting a positive result on Sunday.

Chelsea Have Too Much

Chelsea have won on their last two trips to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It would be a massive shock if that doesn’t become three in a row.

They might be fierce rivals, and Spurs can cause Chelsea some problems through Dele Alli and Harry Kane, but this looks like an easy away win on paper. There’s a chasm between these two teams at the moment.

Chelsea on the -1 spread is a good price. There’s even better value to be found with a small parlay, though. Everything points towards another dominant Lukaku performance – the Chelsea striker to score in a Blues win is +159.

Pick: Chelsea to win and Romelu Lukaku to score anytime (+159)
