Leicester have had a magnificent EPL season and for several weeks it was they, and not Manchester City, who were the closest challengers to champions-elect, Liverpool. They still look on course to nab one of the four Champions League places and so will be looking to keep the pressure on those above them when they visit Wolverhampton on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 3:00 pm EST.

Wolves Having a Wobble

It’s been a funny old season for Wolves. After an indifferent opening to the campaign, one that came about largely due to their heavy Europa League schedule, they rediscovered their rhythm of last season and put themselves in reach of the top four and those lucrative Champions League places. But a recent poor run of one win in six has seen them slip to ninth.

Last time out, they steadied the ship somewhat with a hard-earned 0-0 draw at Old Trafford – ending a run of nine EPL games without a clean sheet – and will be hoping build on that with a good performance against the high-flying Foxes. They will, however, have to overcome a recent run of home form that needs improvement, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo knowing a run of just four wins from their last 13 home league matches isn’t good enough to earn European soccer next season.

Worth noting for the bettors is that Wolves’ recent EPL games have been relatively high scoring, with three or more goals having been scored in three of their last four games. This brings the ‘Over 2.5 goals’ bet into play, and it’s also worth remembering that in this equivalent fixture last season, Wolves won 4-3 which included a hat-trick from Diogo Jota.

Foxes With Champions League Place in Sight

Leicester have had a dip in form of late – two wins in their last five – but despite dropping behind Man City they are still in third and a healthy ten points clear of the teams outside of the top four. They look well-positioned for their first Champions League campaign since 2016/17, following on from their against-all-odds title win of 2015/16.

But there is still work to be done by the Foxes, and manager Brendan Rodgers will know they can’t afford too many slip-ups in the final straight if they are to rejoin Europe’s elite. One win in their last four league games is a run that has to end and they somehow need to rediscover the winning habit that took them up to second place.

In their favor though is some outstanding recent away form – their struggles have mainly been at the King Power Stadium – and on their travels, they have won seven out of their last nine. They did, however, suffer a 2-1 defeat at Burnley in their last away match.

Goals Aplenty for Leicester

Goals haven’t been in short supply though for Leicester, even in their dip, and only Liverpool and Man City have scored more. Each of their last eight league games have produced three or more goals and so adds more weight to the ‘more than 2.5 goals’ bet. Both teams have also scored in eight of their last ten EPL games matches.

So, while we should expect goals, with both teams having had a recent wobble this is tricky to call and there is a danger here of both teams wanting to avoid losing more than wanting to win it. It could one of those games where’s it’s end-to-end for 70 minutes or so and then, if there’s a point on offer for both, they will ease off the throttle and ensure they at least get a draw.

At +221, the draw looks to be where the value is and for those who fancy going big, there are worse bets out there than the 2-2.
