[24] Victoria Azarenka vs [15] Elina Svitolina Prediction

These two will be meeting for the fifth time in the career when they go head-to-head in the third round here at the Aussie Open. Azarenka has the edge, as she leads the head-to-head 4-0.

Their first meeting dates back to 2015, with their most recent being at the 2021 Qatar Open.

The Belarusian enters the match as the favorite to move on, as Svitolina has her work cut out for her. Azarenka has found tremendous success at the Grand Slam, having won twice in the past.

Svitolina hasn’t had the most ideal start to the season, with two Round of 32 exits, in the tournaments leading up to the Aussie Open. The Ukrainian had a strong first round match here, defeated her opponent in straight sets, before moving onto Harmony Tan in the second round, that ended in a walkover for Svitolina.

Azarenka has has a fairly good start to the 2022 season. She had a quarterfinal appearance at the Adelaide Open prior to the Grand Slam, and has yet to lose a set in her two matches in Melbourne.

It’s definitely looking like Azarenka has the edge heading into this match. The two have pretty different styles of play, as Svitolina likes to utilize the entire court, while Azarenka likes to overpower her opponents.

But given the start to the year, and the 4-0 head-to-head record edge Azarenka has, look for her to be the one moving on.

Best Bet: Azarenka 2-0 (-150)

[28] Veronika Kudermetova vs [5] Maria Sakkari Prediction

Kudermetova and Sakkari will be going head-to-head for the third time in their career later today. Their current head-to-head record is tied at 1-1, with Sakkari capturing the most recent win in 2021.

Both players have had a great start to their tournament, neither has dropped a set.

Sakkari is one of the strongest players on tour, and will look to beat her opponent with her power. But Kudermetova will be one to challenge. The Russian has a serve that she can rely on, and while Sakkari will look to win with strong groundstrokes from the baseline, Kudermetova will look to utilize the entire court.

This looks like it will be a pretty close match, that has the chance of going the distance.

Best Bet: Over 2.5 sets (+140)

Amanda Anisimova vs [13] Naomi Osaka

A match that will definitely draw a lot of eyeballs is this one between 20-year old Anisimova and 24-year old Osaka. This is the first meeting between the two.

Anisimova started her Australian Open tournament by dropping her first set of her first match, but has shown consistency since. She knocked off 22nd seed Belinda Bencic, winning 6-2, 7-5, in the second round, to earn her spot in the Round of 32.

Osaka, who has had an easier pair of opponents in the first two rounds, has been playing like her old self. The Japanese star has been dominant and strong through her first two matches, having yet to drop a set.

It seemed like a lot of people were questioning how Osaka was going to perform at the tournament, but she’s giving people less and less reason to doubt her at the moment. She’s not quite playing the way we’ve seen in the past, but she seems to be well on her way.

Anisimova will make it a tough match, but Osaka most likely won’t be challenged until the next round.

Best Bet: Osaka 2-0 (-135)
