Sinner’s Five-Set Battle

The 21-year old Italian went on to win a five-set battle against Ilya Ivashka 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.

It was a back and forth battle that saw Sinner record 14 double faults, and his opponent record 13. The two collectively only went on to hit 10 aces.

Ivashka was giving everything he had, but it wasn’t quite enough against Sinner. The Italian managed to piece the comeback together and earn in the quarterfinals. He’s now become the youngest man to reach the quarterfinals at all four Grand Slams since Novak Djokovic did it in 2007-2008.

Alcaraz Reaches Quarterfinals for Second Straight Year

The 19-year old could become the World No.1 if he wins the Grand Slam, and he’s looking to be in pretty good shape to do so.

He found himself up against former champion Marin Cilic, who went up right out the gate. But much like his quarterfinal opponent, it was a match that went back and forth until one player could come out on top. Alcaraz was that player, and he went on to win 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Third Meeting this Year

The current head-to-head record between Sinner and Alcaraz is 2-1, in favor of Sinner. This will be the third meeting between them just this year. Alcaraz took the first match between them last year, but it’s been all Sinner this year.

Alcaraz will look to even out the head-to-head by capturing a win here.

Sinner vs Alcaraz Prediction

Both players are coming off a marathon of a match, it’s the second week of a Grand Slam, and fatigue is going to start to catch up to some players.

There’s a few factors to take into account heading into this match. The two player each other just a couple of weeks ago, where Alcaraz couldn’t break Sinner, and only went 8-16 on break points. As mentioned Sinner won both meeting this year, and both have come on hard courts.

Alcaraz might have the edge to win this match and move onto the semifinals, but regardless of the winner here, everything’s pointing to this going the distance. Look for this match to go five sets.

Best Bet: Five sets (+275)
