The first weekend of the US Open is here, as the third round continues on Day 6 of the tournament. The final eight matches will be played for men’s singles as the round of 16 gets set.

Many seeded and top players are still competing. One of the tournament favorites Rafael Nadal will be taking on Richard Gasquet. Nadal is the heavy favorite to win, and his US Open odds are continuing to shorten as the tournament goes on.

[19] Denis Shapovalov vs [9] Andrey Rublev Prediction

23-year old Shapovalov and 24-year old Rublev will go head-to-head for the fourth time in their careers on Saturday, as the two are set to face each other in the third round of the US Open. Their current head-to-head record is split at 2-2, with Rublev winning their last meeting in 2020.

All four of their previous matches have taken place on hard court surfaces. Rublev’s two wins came on indoor hard, while Shapovalov’s two wins came on outdoor hard.

The Canadian is coming off a four set win over his second round opponent. He was able to tighten up parts of his game last match, which should set him up well for Rublev. The young star served up 24 double faults in his two matches. Last match alone he recorded 13, but also 11 aces. He also managed an 83 win percentage on his first serve. But if he isn’t able to reduce that double fault number, Rublev will be able to pull away easily.

Rublev on the other hand is coming off a straight set win over his opponent. He was what we expected from Rublev. He showed up and got the job done.

At the end of the day this will be a battle, so expect it to go long.

Best Bet: Five sets (+285)

[15] Marin Cilic vs [20] Daniel Evans Prediction

Former US Open champion Cilic currently hold a 1-0 head-to-head record against Evans, with their one and only match happening at the Australian Open in 2017. It’s been a minute since these two have see each other on tour. The two will play at 1:35pm ET on Court 17.

The two are coming off strong wins over their second round opponents. Cilic went on and won in straight sets, while Evans took four to shut down his opponent.

The two have a similar, yet different style of lay. Cilic relies heavily on his serve to earn him points, whereas Evans finds his points in rallies, where he’s able to keep his opponent on his toes, and not allow him to get comfortable with any shot.

Much like the previous match above, this looks like it could be a battle of a match, meaning it’ll go the distance.

Best Bet: 5 sets (+275)

Ilya Ivashka vs [26] Lorenzo Musetti Prediction

Ivashka and Musetti played each other just earlier this year in Madrid where Musetti won the three-set match.

The Belarusian is coming off two four set wins over his opponent. His most recent match saw him upset eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz. Musetti had a five-set battle to open his tournament, but he found himself able to take care of Gijs Brouwer in straight sets.

Like the previous two matches spoken about earlier, this one also looks like it could be a tight battle that should be exciting.

The two do have different styles of play. Ivashka wins a lot of points off serves, and has a strong forehand that he relies on very often. Despite just being 20-years old, Musetti plays like he’s been on tour for years. He comes out and sets the pace for a match, and provides so much variety into his game.

The variety and execution that Musetti displays will be something new to Ivashka, which may catch him off guard, and allow the Italian to sneak in and win.

Best Bet: Lorenzo Musetti (+160)
