Defending Champion

Medvedev is the No. 1 seed, favorite, and defending champion. He drew the first quarter and will open his tournament up against Stefan Kozlov, which should be an easy win.

The 26-year-old defeated Novak Djokovic in the finals last year to win, but he doesn’t have to worry about facing the Serb this year as he will not be competing in the US Open. But he could potentially face Roberto Bautista Agut or Nick Kyrgios as early as the Round of 16.

Following that Round of 16, it will most likely be tough competitor after tough competitor, with the possibility of Felix Auger-Aliassime, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Rafael Nadal.

Is Medvedev the best bet heading into the tournament?

US Open Contenders

With close to all the top players competing over the next two weeks, there are plenty of players to watch. As any other Grand Slam, expect some upsets early on in the tournament.

Aside from the likes of Nadal, Alcaraz, and Tsitsipas, those that are the top players in the tournament, there are a few others worth keeping an eye out on.

Casper Ruud is competing in the second quarter and could make a run as it might be the most forgiving quarter of the draw. The Norwegian has had a pretty great year and could have a deep run in New York.

11th seed Jannick Sinner has always been a part of the conversation, and again, is someone who might be able to make a deep run in the tournament. He’s in the third quarter alongside Alcaraz and Hurkacz.

US Open Men’s Best Bet

Medvedev is playing some of the best tennis of his career and has been doing so consistently. There’s no real to not take him as the best bet at this point.

Of course, the first couple of rounds will be better indicators of who will be able to come out on top, but right now, Medvedev is the one to beat.

Best Bet: Daniil Medvedev (+225)
