  • Kyler Murray is officially Minnesota’s Week 1 starting quarterback
  • Prediction markets have season-long props up for Murray and Justin Jefferson

The Vikings finally answered the only question that mattered this offseason. Kevin O’Connell named Kyler Murray his starting quarterback on Tuesday, dropping J.J. McCarthy back to the backup job a month before the opener against Green Bay on Sept. 13.

Traders moved on it fast. McCarthy fell to 1% in the NFL starting QB odds after touching 27% earlier in camp, and Murray now sits at 98% with more than $138,000 traded.

The season-long markets are where the money goes next, and the prices on this offense don’t all line up. Keep reading for those and my two favorite plays.

One thing to know before you trade. The percentage Kalshi shows next to each player is the last price somebody paid, not what it costs you today. Murray’s 4,000-yard market reads 27% but sells for 25 cents, and Jefferson’s touchdown market reads 44% but sells for 37.

Then there’s what’s missing. No sportsbook has posted Murray’s season passing totals, and he isn’t among the 26 quarterbacks with lines, so Kalshi is the only place to trade his volume today.

Kyler Murray Props: Best Bet

  • Kyler Murray Comeback Player of the Year YES (17¢ at Kalshi)

Murray sits second in this market at 17%, behind Patrick Mahomes at 35%. That works out to about +488, which undersells where he just landed.

A foot injury held him to five games last season. Arizona cut him in March and is still paying $35.5 million of his salary while Minnesota got him for $1.3 million.

He played fine when healthy, completing 68.3% of his throws for 962 yards, six touchdowns and three picks with an 88.6 rating. He also averaged 34.6 rushing yards per game, fifth among all quarterbacks.

Now he gets Jefferson, Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson under a coach who has pulled 18-plus fantasy points per game out of Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold, Joshua Dobbs and Nick Mullens. Two of them turned it into deals worth $180 million and $100.5 million.

I’ll leave his yardage markets alone. Murray’s 2025 pace was 192 yards per game, or about 3,270 across a full season. The scheme fit gives me pause. Minnesota has ranked 28th in shotgun dropbacks since O’Connell arrived, while Murray sits fifth-most in the league since 2019. That’s a lot to unlearn in a month.

Justin Jefferson Props: Value Bet

  • Justin Jefferson 8+ Receiving Touchdowns YES (37¢ at Kalshi)

Jefferson caught 84 of 141 targets for 1,048 yards and two scores last season, with a career-low 12.5 yards per catch. His 67.4% catchable target rate ranked 63rd among receivers, yet he still finished sixth in the league in target share at 28.5%.

He didn’t forget how to score. He spent a season catching passes from the worst quarterback play of his career, and that just changed. Thirty-seven cents is around +170 on a number he should get to if Murray is even average in the red zone.

Justin Jefferson Career Receiving Stats

YearRecYardsTD
2025841,0482
20241031,53310
2023681,0745
20221281,8098
20211081,61610
2020881,4007

Last season is the outlier on that list. Jefferson has hit eight or more scores in three of his six years and topped seven in four of them, so 37 cents is asking for something he’s already done plenty.

Be pickier on the yardage side. Kalshi wants 51 cents for 1,250-plus, a bigger ask than the 1,149.5 line the books are posting at even money. Take the over at a sportsbook if you want that one.

His 6% price in the Offensive Player of the Year odds is fair but not a buy. Bijan Robinson and Ja’Marr Chase top that board at 11%, and receivers rarely beat out backs and quarterbacks for that trophy.

Vikings Receiver and Running Back Props

Kalshi’s boards only list Jefferson from this offense, so the rest of the skill group lives at the sportsbooks. Addison is the one worth chasing at 674.5 receiving yards.

Vikings Season Yardage Totals

PlayerMarketTotal
Jordan AddisonReceiving Yards674.5
Jordan MasonRushing Yards649.5
Aaron JonesRushing Yards549.5

Totals as of August 11, 2026 at DraftKings and FanDuel. Shop the NFL betting apps before you take a side, since these numbers move book to book.

Every total above is priced -110 to both sides, so the market is calling each one a 52.4% shot either way. Mason’s number sits about 100 yards under what he ran for last season, while Jones’ is parked right on top of his 548.

He posted career lows of 610 yards and three touchdowns as the WR44 last season, then averaged 77.3 yards across his four games with Carson Wentz. At that rate he needs nine games to get to 674.5.

Jauan Jennings and Hockenson have no season-long number anywhere, which is strange for a guy who put up 1,618 yards and 15 touchdowns the past two years in San Francisco.

The backfield split shows up in the pricing. Jordan Mason sits 100 yards clear of Aaron Jones at 649.5 after running for 758 yards and six scores at 4.8 a carry. Jones managed 548 and two at 4.2 in 12 games. O’Connell has kept it a 1A/1B all camp, so neither number has much room.

Minnesota’s win total sits at 8.5 with no juice either way, and the Vikings are third in the NFC North odds at 17% behind Detroit and Green Bay. Nobody has bought into this offense yet, which is why 17 cents on Murray won’t survive a hot September.
