Belinda Bencic vs Marketa Vondrousova

Belinda Bencic and Marketa Vondrousova will meet for the first time in their careers as they are scheduled to take to the court just after 6 PM ET on Saturday night. Both players are coming off fairly strong second rounds wins, where they both beat their opponents in straight sets.

Bencic defeated Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan 6-2, 6-1, in just over an hour. Diyas was actually coming off a major win, upsetting Venus Williams in the Round of 128.

Vondrousova beat her opponent Qiang Wang 6-4, 6-4, and didn’t find herself challenged during the match. She did record six double faults, which she’ll have to tighten up when she takes on Bencic.

This should be an exciting match with it being the first time Bencic and Vondrousova meet. Right now, Bencic is the slight favorite.

Best Bet: Bencic (-132); 2-0 (+180)

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Elina Svitolina

Elina Svitolina holds the 2-0 head-to-head record against Ekaterina Alexandrova as they look to face each other in the third round of the Miami Open. Their most recent match, which took place earlier this year in the round of 16 at the Abu Dhabi Open, was a battle that went the distance.

Alexandrova is coming off a strong showing against Nadia Podoroska, winning 6-0, 6-4. Svitolina will be much harder of an opponent for the Russian. She’ll have to sharpen up on her serve, where she recorded six double faults and only managed to land 53-percent of her first serves.

Svitolina on the other hand had to come back after losing her first set in her second round match against Shelby Rogers. She eventually won 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Struggling in those first two sets, it looks like she’s been battling a wrist injury.

Because Svitolina was able to come back in that third set and find her groove, it doesn’t seem like that wrist injury should impede on anything moving forward for the time being.

Best Bet: Svitolina (-167); 2-1 (+320)

Karolina Pliskova vs Jessica Pegula

This match has interesting written all over it.

This will be the third time these two players have faced each other. The two previous meetings happened this year with Jessica Pegula beating the World No. 6 both times, in straight sets.

Their most recent match came in the third round of the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Karolina Pliskova is coming off a strong showing against Saisai Zheng, where she won 6-2, 6-1. She recorded three aces in comparison to her opponent’s zero, and managed a 73 win-percentage on her first serve.

Pegula defeated her opponent Storm Sanders 6-3, 6-4, where she recorded four aces, but managed three double faults.

The sixth seed will be looking to avenge the previous two losses to Pegula, which might be something that works in her favor. From the two matches earlier this year, it really looked like Pegula just had Pliskova figured out from start to finish. But you would think that when the draw came out, and Pliskova saw a possible opponent in Pegula, she would take a look at mistakes that were previously made, and what she could do to win a match, or at least take a set off the American.

Best Bet: Pliskova (+145)
