In most circumstances, I’d be worried for any  WNBA team going up against the Las Vegas Aces (24-3, 11-3 away) after they were obliterated by the New York Liberty.
However, the host Dallas Wings (15-13, 9-5 home) are one of the few teams to have a win against the league’s top team and betting favorite in the WNBA Championship odds.
Dallas isn’t riding high into this one, though, having lost two straight and four of their last six.
Action gets underway Tuesday (Aug 8) at 8pm ET from College Park Center in Arlington, TX. You can watch the game live on CBSSN.

Las Vegas Aces | -9 (-110) | -520 | Ov 176 (-110) |
Dallas Wings | +9 (-110) | +390 | Un 176 (-110) |
Despite their struggles last game in New York, the Aces are still 9-point road favorites Tuesday and -520 on the moneyline, an implied win probability of 83.87%.
A matchup of two of the top four scoring teams in the W, the total sits at 176 points.
Las Vegas had won their previous five road games before taking an L last game.
After dropping both ends of a home set against Chicago, Dallas has lost three of their last four home games.

Vegas Whipped at Barclays
It was billed as a potential WNBA Finals matchup between the top two teams in the association, but it was more an old-fashioned thumping as the Liberty handed the Aces just their third loss of the year, a 99-61 drubbing.
After trailing 49-44 at half, the Aces had no answers for the Liberty, who outscored them 30-9 in the decisive third quarter, and 50-17 overall in the second half.

Las Vegas boasts the second-best scoring defense (79.7) and 5th-best 3-point defense (34%), but they gave up their highest point total of the season, while allowing the Liberty to shoot 17-for-38 from the distance, a 44.7% clip.
It was a rough night for A’ja Wilson, who took a hard elbow in the first quarter and had to leave the game briefly. She returned, and scored just nine points on 2-for-14 shooting, with seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
Jackie Young led Vegas in scoring with 16, while Chelsea Gray had 15 points, six assists and three boards.
Wings Swept by Sky
A team battling to hold on to the eighth and final playoff seed in the W, the Chicago Sky went into Dallas and took both ends of their mini-set against the Wings.
Dallas allowed their opponents to score 104 points each game, losing by eight points last game, after getting drubbed by 15 in the meeting prior.

Satou Sabally was active all matchup, pouring in a team-high 25 points in the loss, to go along  eight assists, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Natasha Howard had 24 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Dallas wasn’t able to dent that lead much, in part because they shot 4-for-16 from three-point range. On the year, they’re last in the WNBA in three-point shooting at 30.2%.
Aces vs Wings Betting Prediction
This will be the fourth and final meeting between these teams this season.
Sandwiched between two Vegas wins is Dallas’ 80-78 triumph, a thriller that was sealed when Howard made a pair of free throws with 0.4 seconds left.
All five Wings staters went for double digits in that one, led by Arike Ogunbowale, who finished with 21 points, six assists and four rebounds. Teaira McCowan had 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Howard went for 16 points and 11 assists.
Aces vs Wings Head-to-Head Stats
93.2 (1st) | Points Per Game | 86.3 (3rd) |
49.7% (1st) | Field Goal Percentage | 43.5% (7th) |
38.1% (1st) | Three-Point Percentage | 30.2% (12th) |
34.4 (4th) | Rebounds | 39.4 (1st) |
21.7 (2nd) | Assists | 19.9 (5th) |
12.1 (1st) | Turnovers | 13.6 (4th) |
+13.5 (1st) | +/- | +2.8 (4th) |
We’re potentially going to see a tremendous version of the Aces come out Tuesday — the one that helped get Vegas to first in scoring, three-point, free-throw shooting, fewest turnovers and top point differential.
Still, Dallas is challenging because they get their scoring from a variety of methods, ranking first in second-chance points (15), fast-break points (14) and points in the paint (41.6).
Vegas has struggled in this head-to-head series of late, going 1-4 against the spread in their last five at Dallas, and 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall.
While I think the Aces should take this matchup, Dallas should stay within range.
