Probable Pitchers
Dylan Cease (2-0, 1.69) will pitch for the White Sox against Zach Plesac (0-1, 1.64). Both will be going on five days of rest.
Cease vs Plesac
2-0 | Record | 0-1 |
1.69 | ERA | 1.64 |
2.01 | xERA | 5.75 |
0.94 | WHIP | 1.00 |
3.20 | SO/W | 7.00 |
Cease kept his record perfect last Friday when he beat the Tampa Bay Rays at home. He went 5.2 innings and allowed one run, three hits and two walks while striking out eight.
The good start has made Cease the third choice in the AL Cy Young odds at +850.

Cease is 2-2 with a 5.56 ERA in five career starts against Cleveland and 1-2 with a 7.13 ERA in four starts at Progressive Field.
In his season debut, Cease won a start in the day and on the road when he allowed one run in five innings April 9 against the Tigers at Detroit. Last season, he was 7-5 with a 4.69 ERA in 16 night starts and 4-2 with a 3.00 in 12 day games.
The Guardians’ Amed Rosario is 3 for 7 against Cease.
Plesac lost to the San Francisco Giants last Friday at home, giving up two runs and seven hits in 5.1 innings while striking out four and walking one. He is winless in six starts, stretching to last season.
Against the White Sox, Plesac is 2-4 in his career with a 4.56 ERA in nine starts. It was his first start at home this season after compiling a 3-2 record and 4.10 ERA last season in 12 starts at Progressive Field.

Plesac has made one start in the daylight this season, working 5.1 scoreless inning against the Royals on April 9 in a no-decision at Kansas City. He was 4-1 with a 4.73 ERA in eight starts during the day last year.
Luis Robert (5 for 10) and Adam Engel (4 for 10) have both hit Plesac well and have two doubles off him. Eloy Jimenez, though is just .133 (2 for 15) against him with two doubles and six strikeouts.
White Sox vs Guardians Betting Preview
Jose Ramirez shined Wednesday in the doubleheader sweep. His second grand slam highlighted a nine-run second inning in the opener, and he hit an RBI double in the Guardians’ one-run win in the second game.
Ramirez leads the major leagues with 20 RBIs a week after signing a franchise-record seven-year, $141-million contract.
It’s a Grand Slam for the 🐐, so that means we’ve got our FIRST tree to plant to help re-establish the tree canopy in Cleveland with @DaveyTree.

Oscar Mercado also doubled in a run in the nightcap. Emmanuel Clase pitched a perfect ninth for the Guardians’ first save of the season.
Jimenez sat out both games of the twinbill for the White Sox with a sore left ankle but might play Thursday.
Third baseman Josh Harrison left in the sixth inning of the second game with a sore left shoulder after making a diving catch and will likely miss Thursday’s game.
