An epic Saturday is in the books and the college football Week 6 odds have already been posted. The Week 6 slate isn’t quite as luminous as Week 5, which included Alabama/Georgia, Oregon/Penn State, LSU/Ole Miss, and Ohio State/Washington.

But there are still a couple of ranked-on-ranked matchups with huge College Football Playoff implications, including #2 Miami vs #8 Florida State, a game that’s a must-win for the Noles after they were upset at Virginia yesterday.

The table below lists the opening college football Week 6 odds for every game on the board. More games will be added as odds open.

Early Predictions in NCAAF Week 6 Odds

Last week, I gave out just one early line to target, and it paid-off handsomely. Not only did Alabama cover as 3.5-point underdogs at Georgia, the Tide won straight-up (24-21) to get right back into CFP contention.

This week, there are two lines that look appealing at this early stage.

North Carolina (+13.5) vs Clemson

UNC’s first two Power Conference games under Bill Belichick have been unmitigated disasters. The Tar Heels were blown out 48-14 by TCU in Week 1 and 34-9 by UCF in Week 4. In between, they picked up wins over lesser competition: 20-3 at Charlotte, and 41-6 vs DII Richmond.

After a Week 5 bye, UNC faces reeling Clemson, which is just 1-3 on the season and 0-3 against P4 teams. The Tigers’ only victory this season was a 27-16 victory over Troy at home as 31-point favorites. Out of all 136 DI teams, Clemson is one of just six that has yet to cover the spread this year.

YouTube video

UNC is 2-2 against the number, covering in both wins.

Clemson QB Cade Klubnik has regressed in his senior season, completing just 60.1% of his passes with six touchdowns and four interceptions (one in each game so far). He has a horrendous 45.1 QBR, compared to 78.7 as a junior when he threw just six interceptions all season.

The Tar Heels have a lot of work to do under Belichick, both in terms of execution and personnel. But they have at least shown a level of competence that Clemson has lacked this year.

Getting nearly two touchdowns at home against a Tiger team in disarray? I’ll take it.

Duke (-2.5) at Cal

The Duke offense has been on an absolute tear the last couple weeks, beating NC State 48-33 at home, and then blowing out a good Syracuse team 38-3 on the road. Those impressive victories followed on the heels of an ugly two-game skid, which included a 45-19 loss at Illinois and a 34-27 loss at Tulane.

In Week 6, the Blue Devils draw a hard-to-read Cal squad. The Golden Bears are 4-1 overall and their wins over Minnesota (27-14 home) and Boston College (28-24 away) are nothing to sneer at. But they were also shut out 34-0 at San Diego State as 14-point road favorites.

Duke is going to be the stiffest competition that Cal has faced all season, and if my read is correct, by a pretty considerable margin. Sophomore QB Darian Mensah is blooming into one of the better pivots in the country in realtime and he has a host of plus-weapons to work with.

This line opened at Duke -3 at DraftKings and Duke -3.5 at FanDuel, but bettors can grab it at -2.5 at Underdog if they hurry.
