  • Austin Warren will open for the Mets while the Mariners starter is Emerson Hancock

The New York Mets (26-33) hit the road to open up a series against the Seattle Mariners (31-29). First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM PT / 9:40 PM ET at T-Mobile Park. New York has won four straight, tying a season-high, while Seattle has captured six in a row. The home squad is favored in the MLB odds, with New York winning their last two contests vs the M’s last season.

In this preview, I will break down the pitching matchup, MLB player props and betting splits to identify the best angles for this interleague clash.

Mets vs Mariners Prediction & Best Bets

  • The Pick: Under 7.5 Runs (-120 at BetMGM)
  • Juan Soto Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130 at DraftKings)

Seattle turns to Emerson Hancock, who consistently works deep into games. He boasts a 2.78 ERA over 64.2 innings and limits traffic with a 1.01 WHIP. In ten of his eleven starts on the campaign, Hancock hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs.

New York counters with Austin Warren acting as an opener. He has a stellar 1.40 ERA in 19.1 innings, and both pitching staffs rank in the top-10 for overall ERA (3.46 Mariners 5th, 3.82 Mets, 9th).

My top player prop is Juan Soto Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130 at DraftKings). Soto is hitting .305 with a .597 slugging percentage. Averaging over a base hit per game with 13 home runs, his ability to generate extra-base contact makes him a premium target despite the low-scoring projection.

He’s mashed a home run in six of his last ten outings, plus has multi-hit affairs in eight of 15, collecting at least one hit in 13 of those duels.

Austin Warren vs Emerson Hancock

PitcherW-LERAWHIPFIPK/9BB/9OBA

Emerson Hancock (SEA)4-22.781.013.568.772.09.215

For the MLB probable pitchers, Hancock provides Seattle with innings length, averaging nearly six frames per start. His 2.09 BB/9 rate demonstrates elite command, keeping the basepaths clean. He puts his team in a strong position to win without taxing the relief corps.

Conversely, Warren’s 4.20 BB/9 rate suggests early control issues. Since he operates as an opener, New York will be forced into its bullpen almost immediately.

In the MLB public betting splits, the public is backing the home team. Seattle is commanding 78% of the moneyline tickets and 75% of the total betting handle. The total runs market goes against my selection, with a whopping 92% of wagers and 79% of cash on the Over seven runs.
