  • Argentina is apt to generate immense pressure against Egypt’s low block
  • Egypt relies on stubborn defensive setups and counterattacks to frustrate superior technical opponents.
  • See my two anytime goalscorer picks for Argentina vs Egypt on Tuesday, July 7

The final games of the Round of 16 arrive on Tuesday, July 7. The two-game slate starts with Argentina vs Egypt in Atlanta at 12:00 pm ET.

Argentina brings overwhelming firepower to the pitch, headlined by legendary Lionel Messi, who’s flanked by lethal finishers Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez. I expect them to relentlessly test an Egyptian defense that has shown vulnerabilities.

Where is the best value hidden on the betting board? I will break down my top anytime goalscorer predictions and uncover the most profitable wagers for this knockout showdown.

Goalscorer Picks for Argentina vs Egypt

Player (Team)Betting Odds
Lautaro Martinez (ARG) 38¢ (+163 at Kalshi)
Julian Alvarez (ARG)35¢ (+185 at Kalshi)

Argentina’s unmatched attacking depth dominates the anytime goalscorer board. I am targeting Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez using Kalshi’s market-best prices, which currently offer better payouts compared to traditional sportsbooks.

Kalshi
Lautaro Martinez 1+ Goal
38%

Lautaro Martinez remains a focal point of an Argentine attack that has already poured in 11 goals through four matches. His recent game log backs that role: he started every World Cup match listed for Argentina, played at least 55 minutes in each, and scored in the 3-1 win over Jordan on June 28.

Stretching back through his recent national-team appearances, Lautaro has produced five goals and three assists in his last nine Argentina outings, including braces or goal contributions in friendlies against Puerto Rico, Angola, and Honduras. His club form also supports the case, with goals for Inter against Roma, Lazio and Lazio again in the Coppa Italia during the spring run-in.

Against an Egyptian defense that has conceded four times across their four tournament appearances, I expect Martinez to capitalize on Argentina’s dominant possession numbers.

By paying just 38 cents at Kalshi, I am securing an implied payout of +163. This offers a massive edge over traditional sportsbooks

Julian Alvarez Anytime Goalscorer (35¢ / +186 at Kalshi)

Prediction Markets
Pick #2

Kalshi
Julian Alvarez 1+ Goal
35%

For an alternative at the top of the formation, Julian Alvarez presents excellent value at 35 cents via Kalshi. Argentina’s offensive machine has generated 55 total shots and 24 shots on target during the competition, so whoever gets minutes through the middle should receive steady service inside the penalty area.

Alvarez has not found the net yet in this World Cup, but his usage is trending in the right direction: after 35 minutes against Algeria and 26 against Austria, he logged 82 minutes in the 3-1 win over Jordan and 57 more in the 3-2 extra-time victory over Cape Verde.

That growing tournament role matters because Alvarez’s broader game log shows a forward who can heat up quickly when the chances arrive. Before this World Cup, he scored for Argentina in the 5-0 friendly win over Zambia on April 1, then delivered in high-leverage club matches for Atletico Madrid: a goal against Barcelona in the Champions League on April 8, another in the Copa del Rey semifinal against Real Sociedad on April 18, and a goal against Arsenal in the Champions League on April 29.

Earlier in the spring, he also produced a two-goal, one-assist performance against Tottenham on March 10 and followed it with a goal and assist in the return leg on March 18.

That profile fits this matchup. Alvarez presses relentlessly, attacks loose balls, and thrives when opponents are pinned deep for long stretches. Egypt has proven to be a stubborn unit, but sustained Argentina pressure should eventually create cutbacks, rebounds and second-chance looks – exactly the types of chances Alvarez converts. At 35 cents, I am comfortable backing his movement and recent scoring résumé to translate into an anytime goal.
