The final chapter of Katie Taylor’s (25-1) story has finally arrived, as the 40-year-old prepares to close out one of the most iconic careers in women’s boxing history on Saturday night. ‘The Bray Bomber’ will end everything in her dream venue at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland, against Flora Pili (12-0).

Taylor and Pili compete for the vacant WBC women’s super lightweight title left behind by a pregnant Sandy Ryan. Taylor will also stake the WBA, WBO, IBF and The Ring titles, giving her an opportunity to enter retirement as the undisputed 140-pound champion.

Without another major boxing event on Saturday, all eyes will be on Taylor and Pili in Dublin. The main card kicks off at 2 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. BST on DAZN, with main event ring walks tentatively scheduled for 5:10 p.m. ET / 10:10 p.m. BST.

Taylor is the bigger woman in boxing, but Pili is actually the physically larger fighter, measuring two inches taller. The biggest advantage, if any, Pili has over Taylor is her age, coming in over a decade younger than the champion.

Neither woman boasts much knockout power for the division, with Taylor’s 24 percent knockout rate only a smidge higher than Pili’s 17 percent.

Katie Taylor vs. Flora Pili Prediction

There is not much more to say about Katie Taylor at this point, with the record-breaking lineal champion already proving her worth time and again. Taylor has seen and done it all and more throughout her career and is taking a one-off fight at her dream venue to call it a career in Dublin.

With respect to Flora Pili, who has done her part in earning the world title fight, Taylor has spent the last three years fighting significantly better competition. Her hand speed, combinations and footwork were too much for the likes of Chantelle Cameron and Amanda Serrano, much less a fighter like Pili.

The only question for Taylor is her physical condition after over one year away from the ring and having celebrated her 40th birthday in July. Taylor admitted that she functionally retired after her trilogy with Serrano and only came back to fight at Croke Park.

Pili does not have any offense that Taylor has not seen hundreds of times before, but she is a disciplined defensive fighter who remains reserved in her tight high guard and repetitive motion. Pili is difficult to hit cleanly, and Taylor has never been the biggest puncher in her career.

Still, Pili seldom throws in combination and did not have anything to really separate herself from any previous opponent. Even 50 percent of Taylor should win this fight running away.

While it would be a storybook ending for Taylor to get a knockout in her final fight, all she needs is a victory to close out one of the most unique careers in women’s sports. Taylor dominates from bell to bell and gets her final victory after 10 rounds with a reserved Pili.
