2023 Biggest Overs and Unders

The 2023 regular season delivered some of the biggest preseason gut-punches and gold mines in years. Three teams ran the table in the regular season: Michigan went 13-0 and won the national title over Washington, while undefeated Florida State got snubbed from the four-team CFP after Jordan Travis’s injury.

Biggest Overs

  • Arizona (Win Total: 5) — Jedd Fisch’s Wildcats stunned the sport with a 10-3 season after going 5-7 the year before, capped by an Alamo Bowl win over Oklahoma.
  • Missouri (Win Total: 6.5) — The Tigers went 11-2 and finished ranked No. 8 nationally after beating Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.
  • Northwestern (Win Total: 3) — Few teams faced more chaos heading into the season after Pat Fitzgerald’s firing. Interim coach David Braun rallied the Wildcats to eight wins.
  • Oklahoma State (Win Total: 6.5) — The Cowboys went 10-4 and reached the Big 12 Championship Game.

Biggest Unders

  • Clemson (Win Total: 10) — Dabo Swinney’s Tigers went 9-4, falling short of double-digit wins for the first time in over a decade.
  • USC (Win Total: 10) — Caleb Williams couldn’t carry the Trojans alone. USC finished 8-5 with one of the worst defenses in the country.
  • Wisconsin (Win Total: 8.5) — Luke Fickell’s first year in Madison ended at 7-6, with growing pains after the air-raid transition.
