  • May 20 – After dispatching the #1-seed Celtics in six games, the Knicks open as -144 to take the east over Indiana (+122).

  • May 5 – Winning Game 1 has given the Pacers a small bump, going from pre-semifinals odds of +2233 to +1850, but the Cavs are still favored to move on, now getting +159 to win the East.
  • April 11 – The Cavs head into the playoffs as the #1 seed in the East, but are averaging just +171 to win the conference title, behind Boston’s -146.

  • May 26 – Despite dropping WCF Game 3 by 32 points, the Thunder (-950) are still big favorites to advance to the NBA Finals.
  • May 20 – The only top-two seed remaining across the league, the Thunder (-370) are big favorites to dispatch Minnesota (+295) and make their first NBA Finals since 2012
  • May 9 – A Game 1 loss to Denver isn’t slowing down OKC, as the Thunder remain -190 favorites to win the Western Conference.
  • May 5 – No longer having to face the Rockets in the conference semis, the Timberwolves are now getting +458 to win the West.
  • April 11 – It doesn’t seem to matter that Houston (+2500) will finish second in the West, because sportsbooks are giving better odds to five teams behind them in the standings: the Warriors (+600), Lakers (+650), Nuggets (+750), Clippers (+1500), and Timberwolves (+2000) are all getting better Western Conference title odds than the Rockets.
  • March 5 – The Luka Doncic trade fallout continues for Dallas. Following Kyrie Irving’s ACL tear, the Mavericks have seen their Western Conference title odds go from +1650 to +20917.

[May 24] Despite all four games trending towards blowouts, the Celtics are the favorite with the series at 2-2 heading to Miami

[May 20] With a dominant Game 2 win in their back pockets, the Celtics head back to Boston as -235 favorites to win the series and reach the Finals

[May 18] After the Game 1 victory, Miami has become series favorites

[May 16] Despite not having the home court advantage for the ECF, the Celtics have opened up as heavy favorite to advance to the Finals

[May 13] After knocking out the 76ers in Game 6 on Thursday night, the Heat have moved to the favorite in the East as short as +110

[May 12] Milwaukee has regained its status as East favorite after a stunner of a comeback Game 5 win in Boston, while the Heat have shortened to +150 as they head to Philly looking to lock up a berth in the ECF on Thursday night

[May 10] The Celtics are your new Eastern Conference favorites after winning Game 4 in Milwaukee and also taking the spot as series favorite vs the Bucks

[May 9] Despite winning both games at home in the return of Joel Embiid to the lineup, the 76ers are still only +550 to win the East, while Miami remains +225. The health and effectiveness of Kyle Lowry should be of concern to Heat fans

[May 3] The Sixers may not be long for the playoffs if Joel Embiid cannot return quickly, as the Heat easily handled Philly in Game 1

[May 2] Philly’s price has tumbled to +800 with uncertainty surrounding Embiid’s facial fracture and concussion, while the Bucks have shortened to favorites over the Cs after their Game 1 victory at TD Garden

[April 29] The Sixers were the last team in the East to advance, and unsurprisingly are last among teams expected to advance to the Finals. The Heat actually saw their odds shorten when the 76ers locked up their 2nd round berth

[April 28] With uncertainty over the status of Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry, as well as the Celtics facing the Bucks without Middleton, Boston’s odds have shortened to +150 to win the East while Miami saw a slight fade

[April 27] After finishing off the Hawks in Game 5 without Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler, the Heat have seen their odds to win the East shorten to +180, just behind the Celtics

[April 25] The Celtics odds as favorites shortened further, while the Bucks had no problem in Chicago without Khris Middleton blowing out the Bulls twice over the weekend – their odds have shortened back to +275

[April 21] After taking a 2-0 lead against the Nets on Wednesday, the Celtics are now favorites to win the Eastern Conference with odds as short as +225

[April 19] Despite holding a 2-0 lead over Toronto, the market isn’t seeing too much value in the Sixers to come out of the East. Their odds have just shortened from +600 to +550 at Barstool Sportsbook

[April 14] With the playoff paths in the East now set, the Nets odds have faded to as long as +450 as their first two rounds would be against the Nets as well as the Bucks. Miami could possibly face the young Raptors in the second round – who are being picked by many to upset Philly – leading to a shortening of their price

[April 11] Philly has seen their odds to come out of the East take the biggest hit, now as long as +600 as they face a tough first round series against Nick Nurse and the Raptors

[April 4] Miami has reclaimed the #1 seed in the East, but the +500 odds show the books aren’t buying them heading in to the playoffs

[March 28] The Heat’s odds continue tumbling, as they’re now +500 to win the Eastern Conference after losing the grip on the #1 seed

[March 20] There’s been no major change in the Eastern Conference odds the last two weeks, but the Heat have shortened to +400 as they try to get healthier ahead of the postseason

[March 8] In the yo-yoing at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, the Nets have moved back to favorites’ position with Kevin Durant returning to the floor

[February 17] With the James Harden-Ben Simmons trade now complete, both the 76ers and Nets have fallen behind the Bucks – who are now favorites to win the Eastern Conference

[February 10] Now a three-horse race at the top of the odds board, the 76ers jumped in to second at odds of +240 on FanDuel Sportsbook after acquiring James Harden and getting rid of Ben Simmons.

[February 7] The Cavaliers have officially entered the race in the East acquiring Caris LeVert on Sunday, shortening their odds to +2100 at FanDuel. The Nets remain favorites despite their losing skid, while the Bucks price has tightened up as Milwaukee looks to repeat as champions

[January 25] Miami still remains the third choice in the conference at the books, despite currently sitting atop the conference. Is now the time to buy the Heat?

[January 13] Not much of a change in the Eastern Conference odds, the Bulls have shortened in to a tie for fourth with the 76ers at odds of +1000

[December 10] The top three favorites remain the same, while the Hawks are now +1900, and the Bulls have improved to +1200 at FanDuel

[November 1] The Bulls have vaulted themselves in to the top six with their phenomenal start to the campaign, now at odds of +2100 with FanDuel

[October 19] Milwaukee has seen their odds shorten to +300 ahead of opening night against the Nets

Miami Heat -590
Boston Celtics +410

*All odds taken September 24th

The Sixers nearly knocked off the Raptors in the 2019 NBA Playoffs before Kawhi Leonard’s Game 7 buzzer beater fell threw the hoop after touching every part of the rim. Will they have more success this season with a reformed roster featuring five-time All-Star Al Horford and Josh Richardson?

The key to the Bucks’ success in 2019-20 will be the ongoing maturation of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who increased his per game averages across the board during last year’s MVP campaign. If the Greek Freak can take another big leap forward – and add a reliable jump shot to his arsenal – Milwaukee will be tough to beat.

The 2018-19 season was one teams within the Southeast Division would like to forget, as the Magic were the only club to emerge on the right side of .500. Orlando and Miami should be better in 2019-20, but if you’re looking for a conference champion you should definitely look elsewhere.

Odds to Win the Western Conference

Team 2020 Western Conference Odds
Los Angeles Lakers -1250
Denver Nuggets +710

The Jazz should be formidable in 2018-19 after adding elite point guard Mike Conley and lethal sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic to a core that won 50 games a season ago. Donovan Mitchell finally has the support he needs to push Utah into the NBA’s upper echelon.

Will 2020 be the year the Warriors finally fall off their perch? Golden State went to five straight NBA Finals from 2015-19 but could be on the outside looking in this year after losing Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins in free agency and losing Klay Thompson to an ACL injury that will likely keep him out of the lineup until after Christmas.

The Rockets should have a clearer path to the NBA Finals now that the Warriors appear to be in disarray. Golden State knocked Houston out of the playoffs in four of the last five years.
