  • PointsBet New York is one of nine betting sites ready to launch in the Empire State
  • Headquartered in Australia, PointsBet is ready to compete in the emerging online NY sports betting market
  • Mobile New York sports betting is expected to launch in January 2022

The sportsbook from Down Under is coming to the Empire State, as PointsBet New York will launch their acclaimed wagering site and app as soon as mobile NY sports betting becomes available.

PointsBet was founded in Australia in 2015 before launching in the US sports betting market in 2019. They’ve since expanded quickly to operate in eight states across the nation. Their presence in New York will help build brand recognition amongst sports bettors, as the Empire State will become a wagering hotbed with the arrival of mobile betting.

With a bold and reliable platform in addition to their lucrative sign-up promos, PointsBet New York is going to give other betting sites in the state a run for their money.

PointsBet New York Set to Launch As They Expand Across US

New York sports bettors have plenty of reasons to be excited about the arrival of PointsBet in the Empire State.

Over 10,000 users have left a review for the PointsBet app on the App Store, aggregating an overall rating of 4.7 stars. This is exceptionally high for a mobile sportsbook app, so you can feel confident wagering with PointsBet New York when it becomes available.

Sports bettors across the country are clearly enjoying everything PointsBet has to offer.

PointsBet States

PointsBet State Online Betting? Retail Sportsbook Location? Retail Locations(s)
Colorado Yes Pending Double Eagle Hotel & Casino
Illinois Yes Yes Hawthorne Race Track & OTBs
Indiana Yes No N/A
Iowa Yes Yes Catfish Bend Casino
Michigan Yes No N/A
New Jersey Yes No N/A
Virginia Yes No N/A
West Virginia Yes No N/A

The PointsBet sportsbook first launched in the US in 2019, and they’ve since expanded into a total of eight states. While they might not have the same level of recognition as other betting sites like DraftKings or FanDuel, there’s no reason to believe they won’t be competitive in the emerging NY online wagering market.

They’ll bring their acclaimed betting site and mobile app to the Empire State on day one of online wagering. While it’s unclear if they’ll establish a retail location, they already have an official partnership in place with one of New York’s biggest casinos.

PointsBet NY Sports Betting Partnerships

PointsBet New York has signed an official agreement with the Tioga Downs Casino Resort in Nichols, NY.

This partnership was made official way back in July of 2018, signaling PointsBet’s desire to enter the New York market years before online wagering would become available.

It’s unclear whether PointsBet will establish a retail location at Tioga Downs, as FanDuel Sportsbook already has an in-person sportsbook operating from this casino. Either way, mobile sports betting is the most convenient way to place a wager, which will be an absolute gamechanger for sports bettors in the Empire State.

The PointsBet NY Sportsbook Is One of Nine Betting Sites Ready to Go Live

The deal between PointsBet and the Tioga Downs Casino Resort undoubtedly played an important role in PointsBet securing a coveted online sports betting license in New York.

They had the support of one of the state’s flagship casinos during the application process, and while they missed out on earning a sports betting license in Arizona, PointsBet New York will be one of the nine betting sites ready to launch on day one.
