Mitchell vs Szili goes down at St Kilda Town Hall in Victoria, Australia. The prizefight is part of the third installment of the National Boxing Series and the WBO Oriental Super Middleweight title is on the line. Mitchell’s last performance marked the biggest test of his career up until that point.
Since he passed that test with flying colors, he is awarded a fight against Istvan Szili. Szili has a four-fight win streak heading into this fight, has a 100-percent stoppage rate across those bouts, and aims to keep that streak going this weekend.

This is a compelling domestic fight for the Aussie compatriots. This Saturday is a lovely one for checking out the sweet science all over the globe. Mitchell is creeping into that level of international awareness and is regarded on a pound for pound level amongst active Australian pugilists. His opponent Szili has held the UBF world middleweight title and has had bids for intercontinental belts in the IBO and WBA. Mitchell has captured a variety of Oceania and Pan Pacific super-middleweight titles over the years (WBA and IBF).
WBO Gold
Szili has the edge in terms of the amount of pro experience and will look to utilize that veteran savvy in putting it on the rising contender. The number of ring years he has logged could also work to his detriment though as Istvan Szili is 37 years old come fight night. Also, couple this with his extensive amateur career and you have a lot of refined ringcraft but also some wear on the old tire tread possibly as well. This is Mitchell’s second time performing under the NBS banner with his debut for them being his last fight. The quality of Mitchell’s last performance spoke for itself.

The last fight for Michell was important on a number of levels though. It represented a huge main event and a paycheque that would very much alter his family’s life. The moment was so important and felt like it was such a long time coming that Mitchell burst into tears upon realizing that last fight would be booked. This is something Mitchell wants to sustain so he can keep providing for his loved ones.

I have mentioned Szili’s multi-fight win streak heading into this fight but all of those wins are against club level fighters with most of those journeymen having losing records. In the end, I see Mitchell getting things done and walking away with that Oriental championship. Considering his 50-percent KO rate, I think Jayde Mitchell gets it done via a unanimous decision.
Pick: Jayde Mitchell (-1600)
