The Auburn Tigers will take on the LSU Tigers in a marquee matchup in Week 9 (Saturday, Oct. 26th, 3:30 PM ET) that will shape the College Football Championship odds. LSU has opened up as an 11-point favorite in this contest but the question is how will the line move from now until game time? Let’s take a closer look.
Auburn Tigers vs LSU Tigers Odds
Team | Spread* | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Auburn Tigers | +11 (-110) | N/A | N/A |
LSU Tigers | -11 (-110) | N/A | N/A |
*Odds taken 10/20/19.
Both Tigers Are Coming Off Blowout Wins
Both LSU and Auburn come into this game in high spirits as both teams rolled this past weekend. Auburn is coming off a convincing 51-10 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks while LSU rolled Mississippi State, 36-13.

Bettors tend to rely on what they saw in the previous week, so there isn’t much of an edge one way or another. Both teams looked crisp on both sides of the ball and that shouldn’t impact the line.
Public Likely To Lean On LSU
LSU has been one of the most impressive teams in the nation this year, blowing out almost every team in its path. Their closest margin of victory was a seven-point win at Texas in a game that LSU led almost the entire way. Even in a game against No. 7 Florida, the Tigers won handily (42-28).

The public is likely going to remember seeing Auburn in a few primetime games where they’ve been shaky. They needed a late comeback to beat Oregon in their season-opener and then they lost 24-13 at Florida – the very same Gators team that LSU easily defeated. That’s likely going to push the public on the LSU side.
Will Sharps Take Auburn?
It’s about as early as it gets in terms of the betting lines, but the early action has been on Auburn. The only people betting at this point are the sharp bettors as the public generally waits until later.
One reason why sharps might like Auburn here is because their defense has looked legit. LSU might finally face some resistance as Auburn hasn’t allowed more than 24 points in any game this season. At the same time, laying nearly two touchdowns in SEC games is dicey – especially against an opponent that’s ranked in the Top 10.

The other thinking here might be that Auburn will be able to move the ball and score points. LSU’s defense has been leaky, giving up 106 rushing yards to Mississippi State and 146 to Florida. Even Vanderbilt had 145 on the ground. If Auburn can run the ball, they should be able to keep this close and cover the number.
How Will This Line Move?
I’m expecting this to be a push-pull situation from the sharps and public for these NCAA Week 9 odds. I don’t think either side will love this line one way or the other, so we should see the number stay in this neighborhood. I wouldn’t be surprised if this drops to LSU -10.5 or -10, and the public to come in and put more money on LSU.
