Caleb Williams Rushing Yards
USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams begins his quest for a second consecutive Heisman Trophy against the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday. We expect Williams to use his dual-threat ability to lead the Trojans to a convincing victory at the LA Memorial Coliseum.
USC is priced as massive 30.5-point favorites over the Spartans in the USC vs San Jose State odds. The Trojans had the second-best rushing offense in the Pac-12 last season, averaging 335.4 yards per game on the ground.

Williams will be counted on to make more things happen with his legs this season following the departure of USC’s top running back, Travis Dye, to the NFL. During the 2022 campaign, Williams rushed for 30 yards or more in seven of USC’s 14 games.
Last season, San Jose State had the best pass rush in the Mountain West Conference. However, the Spartans must replace their entire front three, including key players Cade Hall and Villami Fehoko. Look for Williams to put on a show against an SJSU defensive front that will require time to build proper chemistry.
- Pick: Caleb Williams OVER 27.5 Rushing Yards (-110)
Tyrin Smith Receiving Yards
Another player we are targeting in our college football Week 0 player props is UTEP receiver Tyrin Smith. The standout senior has been named to the 2023 Biletnikoff Award preseason watchlist after an outstanding 2022 campaign.
Smith started all 12 games for UTEP in 2022 as their primary target, catching 71 passes for 1,039 yards. He’ll begin his quest for a second consecutive 1,000-yard season against a Jacksonville State team that is playing its first-ever FBS game on Saturday.

FanDuel has set Smith’s receiving yards prop for Week Zero at 79.5 yards, which is a number he should have no problem surpassing in the season opener. In his last five games of the 2022 campaign, Smith averaged 84.6 receiving yards per game catching passes from QB Gavin Hardison.
Hardison has been UTEP’s starting quarterback for three straight seasons, and his familiarity with the offense will be huge for Smith and the other receivers in Week 0. JSU returns only one starter on the defensive line, so expect Hardison to have plenty of time in the pocket to connect with his favorite target.
- Pick: Tyrin Smith OVER 79.5 Receiving Yards (-114)
