Dynasty 2.0?

Heading into the 2019 CWL season the new look OpTic roster looked like they could be dangerous, and they proved it at CWL Las Vegas. Coming through the event only dropping a handful of maps, they looked like they may have formed yet another team poised to dominate for the foreseeable future.

Though they looked great in Vegas, they haven’t played on LAN as a team since heading into CWL Fort Worth. Dashy had visa issues and wasn’t able to travel to the first two weeks of CWL Pro League, so OpTic subbed in Zooma to fill out the roster. Though they played with a substitute, they managed to escape their first two weeks of play with a 4-3 record, which was good enough for third place in Division A.

It remains to be seen if the full strength roster will be able to stay on the same level that they were in Vegas, but the team is so talented that it’s hard to imagine them not being even more dominant in Fort Worth. I would say they are the deserving favorite to win CWL Fort Worth, but there are certainly other teams that can challenge OpTic at the second open event of the year.

Biggest Threats

Heading into CWL Fort Worth I would say there are three teams that can challenge OpTic more seriously than the other teams in the field, and they are Gen.G, 100 Thieves, and eUnited.

Gen.G are fresh off making a roster change that saw them swap out Spacely in favor of Envoy from Midnight Gaming.

Gen.G are fresh off making a roster change that saw them swap out Spacely in favor of Envoy from Midnight Gaming. This left many scratching their heads, as Gen.G had the best record in both divisions through the first two weeks of play at 6-1. The swap does bring more talent to the team, but it remains to be seen if the team chemistry will be off, which could be trouble as this team thrived off their chem before.

100 Thieves, on the other hand, started the pro league off with a 1-2 record, before winning four straight and finishing tied for the top spot in Division B at 5-2. They looked shaky to start the year, but it seems like with the addition of Crowder as their coach, the team is finally able to keep level heads and perform how everyone figured this team of superstars would perform.

eUnited are the last team I would consider looking at more seriously in Fort Worth. They managed to also finish tied at the top of Division B with a 5-2 record, but some internal discord may prove to be their downfall.

Recently, there was a bit of drama within the eUnited roster, they were looking to make some moves, they fell through and they’re now stuck playing with players they wanted to have traded/dropped. But if they are able to put their behind-the-scenes issues away, they can find themselves making a run in Dallas, as they do have the talent to do so.

Value Picks in Dallas

There are two teams that I think can make a run at CWL Fort Worth that offer a little more value than the previous teams, and they are Heretics and Reciprocity.

Heretics bring the energy every map, so if they’re able to find their spark in Fort Worth they may just torch the competition.

Heretics have proved they are no joke. Coming out on fire in Division B, the Spanish squad sits tied at the top of the table with a 5-2 record. They bring the energy every map, so if they’re able to find their spark in Fort Worth they may just torch the competition.

Reciprocity, on the other hand, offers a significant amount of value sitting at +5000. They recently made a swap bringing in Dylan and moving Denz to the bench, which may prove to be huge for the Europeans. Dylan is an absolute beast, so them bolstering the role they were having trouble in may prove to be enough to push this team to the top.

Pick: OpTic (+240)
