TNC Predator’s Improved Odds

Back on July 5th, TNC Predator had 25-1 odds to win The International. Now suddenly a week before the tournament, they’ve shortened to 18-1. The Southeast Asian team hasn’t played in a tournament since the EPICENTER Major at the end of June where they finished fourth. There are no new results to merit a change in odds so TNC Predator must be getting more respect for their recent results. At the EPICENTER Major, TNC Predator finished above the likes of Team Secret, OG Esports, PSG.LGD and Ninjas In Pyjamas (NIP): all teams that had better odds than Vici on July 5th. The result that stands out is their 2-0 win over the Ninjas In Pyjamas in the group stage. Prior to the swap, NIP had better odds to win regardless of their head-to-head loss.

The tournament prior to EPICENTER was ESL One Birmingham where TNC Predator finished in fifth. They were second in Group A with a 6-4 record which included another 2-0 over the Ninjas. It looks like TNC Predator were finally given credit for their recent domination of NIP. At +1800, they’re still big underdogs to some of the top DOTA2 teams, but they do present better value than teams like OG.

Cemented at the Top

As of the recent odds update, Team Secret is now even more heavily favored. It’s simply been their year. They’ve got first place finishes at The Chongqing Major, ESL One Katowice, the MDL Disneyland Paris Major, and yes the list goes on.

They definitely disappointed at the EPICENTER Major where they finished ninth, but it’d be shocking if they didn’t bounce back from it. Sometimes a loss is necessary to help a team get even better.

Next to Team Secret in the odds is Vici Gaming. Vici presents better value at 4-1 and they’re coming off a win at the EPICENTER Major where Secret crashed out early. It’s not their first tournament win either. A lot of people forget their win at DreamLeague Season 11 where they knocked Team Secret into the losers bracket and beat Virtus.pro in the grand finals.

Vici is dangerous, and if Team Secret is reeling then Vici will be in form and ready to capitalize.

Picks: Vici Gaming (+400)
