Probable Pitchers

Left-hander Patrick Sandoval (1-0, 0.00) will start for the Angels against Dylan Cease (2-1, 3.27). Sandoval will be pitching on five days of rest and Cease on four.

Sandoval vs Cease

Patrick Sandoval

Sandoval has allowed just two unearned runs in 15 innings in his first three starts of the season. He pitched seven shutout innings to beat the Cleveland Guardians last Tuesday at home, giving up two hits while striking out nine and walking one.

Sandoval took the loss in his only career start against the White Sox as he surrendered three runs in 4.1 innings. This will be his first outing at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Sandoval’s lone road start of 2022 came April 19 when he allowed one run in four innings in a no-decision against the Houston Astros. That is also his only start in a day game.

Cease (2-1, 3.27) has allowed six runs in 11.1 innings in his last two starts after giving up two runs in 10.2 innings in his first two outings of the season. He had a no-decision against the visiting Kansas City Royals last Wednesday, pitching six innings and giving up two runs, three hits and two walks while striking out nine.

In three career starts against the Angels, Cease is 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA. He is 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA in two home starts this season and 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in three starts in the day.

Cease is presently the third choice in the AL Cy Young odds at + 1000.

Angels shortstop David Fletcher is 1 for 6 against Cease but has walked twice.

Angels vs White Sox Betting Outlook

Mike Trout homered, doubled, walked three times and scored three runs to lead the Angels to victory Sunday. The White Sox scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning before falling one run short.

Trout is batting .344 and his 1.247 OPS leads the major leagues.

Andrew Velasquez and Jo Adell each hit RBI doubles for the Angels. Taylor Ward had two hits.

Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani left the game with right groin tightness in the ninth inning after going 0 for 3 with an RBI. Last year’s AL Most Valuable Player said he expects to play Monday.

Infielder Matt Duffy was placed on the COVID-19 injured list prior to the game.

The White Sox got three hits from Tim Anderson and two hits from Gavin Sheets. Leury Garcia belted a two-run double.

That came a day after Anderson led off the game with a homer.

White Sox left fielder Andrew Vaughn is likely to return after sitting out two games with a bruised right hand.

The Angels have gotten the better of the White Sox in recent years, going 26-12 since the start of the 2016 season.

Angels vs White Sox Prediction

The Angels are playing as well as they have in many years and have a history of beating the White Sox. It’s hard to go against Sandoval in this one, especially with his 0.00 ERA.

Pick: Angels ML (+127)
