After a pair of low-scoring affairs in the first two games of the series, the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees are back at it on Wednesday night in the Bronx. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM ET.
It’s a battle of the aces here as Jose Berrios takes the mound for the Jays after a forgettable season debut on Opening Day. As for the Yankees, they hand Gerrit Cole the ball, who faced the Red Sox in his first start of the year.

Probable Pitchers
Berrios is expected to be the No. 1 for Toronto in 2022, but he severely struggled to find his stuff last week against the Rangers. The hard-throwing righty lasted just 0.1 innings, giving up four earned runs and a homer. Texas was absolutely tagging him but considering the type of pitcher he is, expect Berrios to come out here and put together a much better outing.

The Puerto Rican hasn’t pitched that great against New York in his career though, compiling a 4.73 ERA across five starts. Last season, Berrios went 1-0 in two appearances, pitching to a 3.55 ERA.

Cole got off to a rough start against Boston on Opening Day, giving up three earned runs in the first inning. But, the Yankees ace quickly settled in, tossing three scoreless after that. Although he didn’t get the win, it was a decent outing for the veteran.

The ex-UCLA standout, who is a favorite in AL Cy Young odds, pitched substantially better at home last year, posting a 3.11 ERA in 14 starts. Even though Toronto’s lineup is one of the scariest around, he actually dominated them in 21′, compiling a 3.72 ERA in five appearances. However, the Jays’ lineup as a whole is hitting .331 vs. Cole in 127 at-bats.
Blue Jays vs Yankees Betting Analysis
The Blue Jays currently have the second-best World Series odds because of just how complete of a team they have. But, Charlie Montoyo’s squad struggled to get anything going at the plate on Tuesday, getting shutout 3-0 by the Yankees pitching and registering just five hits while stranding six runners.

Nevertheless, there is a reason for optimism heading into Wednesday. Vladimir Guerrero Jr, who is third in AL MVP odds, is hitting .278 against Cole in 18 ABs. Alejandro Kirk, George Springer, and Teoscar Hernandez are also all batting over .300 when Cole is on the bump.
The Yanks didn’t exactly swing it all that well in Game 2 of the series either, but the lineup did just enough to put some runs on the board. DJ LeMahieu went 2 for 3 and Aaron Hicks did some damage, smacking a two-run homer off Yusei Kikuchi in the second inning.

New York’s bats have been relatively quiet so far though, collecting a mere four hits in the series opener and struggling to get much going against the Jays bullpen after Kikuchi exited. Aaron Judge is about the only one with a solid track record vs. Berrios as well, going 5 for 10 with an RBI.

Blue Jays vs Yankees Prediction
I do believe Berrios is going to be very effective here and prove why he’s a Cy Young-caliber arm. But on the other side, Cole is a stud and rarely gives up a lot of runs. The first two games of the series ended 3-0, which means the value is going to lay on the under with the aces on the mound.
